My Sources of Joy

In slowing my breath I embody delight.
My mind is peacefully still, comforted
in meditation by compassionate warmth.
I am consumed by effortless pleasure,
enraptured and filled with a sublime bliss
which holds me in a spiritual embrace.

In stretching out my arms and embracing
my lover when we meet, a most delightful
feeling ignites my heart, a passionate bliss,
radiating devotion, providing comfort.
Tender loving affection, fueled with pleasure,
is the only fire which keeps me warm.

In holding my child and feeling her warm
breath upon my skin I am eager to embrace
responsibility. It is a real pleasure
providing for her and seeing the delighted
expressions which spring from a comfortable
home filled with happiness and bliss.

In charity and kindness, I realized bliss
may be shared with others. A hot meal or warm
bed is all that is required to give comfort
to a starving soul in need of my embrace.
Generous deeds that are sown with delight
will provide a harvest of infinite pleasure.

In pursuing pastimes I find pleasurable,
I am transported to worlds of blissful
proficiency where volumes of delightful
expertise give me instruction. Warmed
by information and fully embracing
understanding, I find cerebral comfort.

In recollecting my past I am comforted
by a lifetime of true contentment. Pleasures
remembered are all I need to embrace
the future with true confidence. Blissfully,
I reminisce and bathe in the soothing warmth
of a life replete with bountiful delights.

The comfort I derive from these simple pleasures
is a sweet embrace, saturated with bliss
and the unparalleled warmth of perfect delight.

Let Justice Ring

Sound our sorrow that all might hear
The children wailing as they cry
Save tomorrow from abject fear
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky

Air our grievance, expose the con
Our starving masses need not die
Share the bounty before it's gone
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky

Vent the horror of futile war
The soldiers killing don't know why
Return them home from death and gore
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky

Stir the hopeful, peal out loud
And rouse the ailing where they lie
Help the weakest and shun the proud
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky

Resolution

When stormy turmoil assails your boat
Desperately struggling to stay afloat
Drop the anchor; sever the chain
Endure on deck; embrace the rain
Proclaim your defiance with opened throat

Leftover Candy

A big bowl of treats by the door
Is impossible to ignore
When the kids have gone
I eat a bon bon
Which turns into maybe one more

News

The news has become quite absurd
Mocking the journalistic word
Often appealing
Never revealing
Just dishing out mountains of turd

While You Were Sleeping

A speaker stands upon a hill, he talks of change and hope
And while you're at the ballot box he's knotting up a rope.

A general kills another man whose children scream and cry
And while you watch the tragic news more sons are sent to die.

A CEO accepts applause for giving good returns
And while you're waiting for your share an oil platform burns.

An actor stands upon the scene of profit, death, and greed
And while you're shopping for your food he tells you what you need.

A weatherman predicts the end with charts, and graphs, and curves
And while you're driving to your job you wonder who he serves.

A banker says, "Fear not my friends". He smiles and shakes your hand
And while you're working for your home the sheriffs seize your land.

A cleric preaches peace and love with words like truth and fear
And while you're praying for the world a martyr's bomb you hear.

A doctor tries to heal the sick by giving out a pill
And while you're staring through the wall he's making out the bill.

A policeman shines his leather boots which help protect and serve
And while your protest goes unheard he steps on your last nerve.

Look Out

When an SUV crosses my path,
My brain quickly does the math.
I move over fast
And let it get past,
So it's rear bumper faces my wrath!

Disappointment

When he first came to work in this place.
He worked hard and performed like an ace.
But it didn't take long
for things to go wrong.
Now he'd just like to exit with grace.

Connected

The deep unfathomed solitude
of peaceful still tranquility
abounds within the sounds
of unperceived connectivity.

Calm beneath the waves
in a bliss of total ecstasy
and lost within the joy
of a moment in eternity.

Here any simple thought
creates a world of reality
which fades beneath the surface
of the lake we call insanity.

Swirling with our hopes and dreams
a maelstrom that's illusory
within the still enchanted figure
of a lone and single entity.

A Simple Plea

This hypocrisy we call democracy
Is a lie you see
to make you think you're free.
Authority, conformity,
See the lie for it's enormity.
Play by the rules and live as fools
Just docile tools of this society
Ruled by greed and kept in poverty.
The willing victims of wage slavery
Are yearning for a life of luxury
And find contentment an impossibility
On an endless treadmill of futility
Exhausting all of their vitality.
But there is a path to tranquility
Found when living in simplicity
Seek to find your sovereignty
By withdrawing from the insanity.
Participation means that you agree
To live in economic fealty.
So lose the car and the foul TV
Stop buying things that you don't really need
End the stroking of your vanity
And demand a halt to inequality.
We all descend from the same family tree
Let's create a world for you and me.
