Allusion

Phantom reflection
a flickering image of
intangible self

Neither here nor there
an undetected presence
dwelling in shadows

Neither in nor out
of this worldly existence
a fleeting remnant

An apparition
in a deepening twilight
without remembrance

Coy

a shy hither smile
warmly rising radiance
whiff of mystery

lashes lowered soft
flutter of hope awaiting
a promising glance

clamorous coppice

Chill

crisp brittle stillness
severely cheerless moonface
celestial sapphire sky

starry frost forming
crystalline icy embrace
shivering aspens quiver

Lines, Rewrite

My life is told in lines here
the ones etched upon my face
deep lines drawn in the sand
storylines I wrote past years
the lines rarely going straight
many written over again
fractured pages inked in tears
stories fade without a trace
wiped away by my own hand
a wasted memoir is what I fear
can I redeem my essential place
in spirit of faith I now stand
bright sliver of light shining clear
a crushed being saved only by grace

March

my life was mere existence
inner being barren and lost

a spiritual abyss
I was unprepared to cross

I walked in a winters rain
forsaken by those I loved

my weary body protected
only from the storm above

You knew Your child had wandered,
despair, a beckoning hole

You took me from the tempest
and into your place of hope

dwelling in your home of warmth
my dispiriting chill fades

Your light calms my inner storm,
awareness dawns, I am safe

Veil

wispy dawn rising
ethereal flute of light
lances the vaporous shroud

spiderweb glistens
an intricately woven
and intangible beauty

Dis----

aimlessly riding in an old Ford Coupe
radio tuned to sixties country
it's message reflecting our mood
we have our snacks and soda
dad, his six pack of beer
cigarette glowing
no one speaks, it's
our special
time with
dad
