Love's All-Encompassing Embrace

My heart is racing.
Faster and faster it beats,
And with every beat, I feel the heat
of your love surrounding me.
Surrounding me,
engulfing me,
grabbing me,
hugging me,
encompassing me…
Til I’m free—
free of the burdens,
the heartaches,
the pain,
the guilt,
the loneliness.
Free of myself,
 the insecurities and the doubt
Wrapped in his love
‘til all the hurt comes out
His love—his pure, amazing love
that releases the cares.
His sweet, unassuming love
That is an answer to prayers.
It covers my heart
          With a coat of joy
Its thick shield of protection
          Blocks the noise.
Completely comfortable
          And saturated in your love.
It coddles and holds me like a glove.
The thought of your love causes my heart to race.
I’m fully entwined in love’s embrace.

The Hurt I Felt When We Broke Up

I never meant to hurt you
That is what he said
I never meant to hurt you
But right to hurt was led
I was led down a path of insecurity and doubt
A path that trampled me until I too wanted out
I wanted us to make it to the end, you and I
I wanted us to both want to cross that finish line.
But I cannot drag you across that waving flag;
I cannot drag you and one day regret I had.
I wanted you to love us,
but you never truly did;
I wished for you to be in love with me,
but that wish was just too big.
So here I am 2 years later wondering what went wrong;
Here I am 2 years later in the midst of a sad love song.
So while he’s “trying not to hurt me,”
he could’ve tried two years ago.
He could’ve tried before I decided to let my defenses go.
You never meant to hurt me? What you think you’d do?
Tell me that you wanted out and I would say, “Me too!”
No, that’s not the way it works
when you hide your true feelings.
That’s not the way it works
when you don’t know with whom you’re dealing.
I was dating a figure, a cartoon who said what I wanted to hear.
A mix between Santa Clause and Papa Smurf who always brought good cheer!
But spare me the “Ho, ho, hos,” I’d rather hear the truth.
Spare me the “baby, I miss yous” cause I never saw the proof.
You lied to me, you’re a liar because of the stuff you didn’t say.
Because of your two years of lying, today I feel the pain.
So you never meant to hurt me? Ha. That joke’s funny…
Why don’t you go down the street and tell it to that girl, honey!
In the meanwhile, I’m gonna be OK…that’s a matter of fact.
And oh…when you realize that I was the one please don’t come back!

Security

Up, down, up and down
The movement of my emotions
Contrary to a child on a seesaw
This undulation is not enjoyable.
The abrupt changes make me dizzy.
Whirling, whirling, “ashes, ashes
We all fall down,”
Yet I don’t get back up.
Tired, frustrated, upset, confused,
Are only a few of those emotions
That are whirling through my mind.
I’m caught in a current that is
Pulling me towards destruction
“we fall down, but we get up”
“We fall down, but we get up”
These words are chanting in my brain
Suddenly my withered flower is in full bloom.
Having new hope, I remember that
“a saint is just a sinner who fell down”
But the catch is he “then got up.”
Now my teeter-totter of emotions
Has become a balance beam of hope.
My emotions are more steady
But it is easier to fall off,
Yet the ultimate coach is there to guide me along
Holding my hand, keeping me strong.

Finding Your Heart

Slowly drifting through this world
Never listening yet never being heard
I am so lost and confused
Why am I the one that always has to lose?
When will my heart find yours?

Crawling daily through life’s ups and downs
Living each down with my face in a frown
My heart never flutters or ever skips a beat
I ever anticipate when our souls will meet.
My heart will soon find yours.

As I’m going through life ever still
A rush over my body, suddenly I feel
This feeling is something I’ve never felt before
It’s warm and refreshing, it opened the door
To my heart as it found yours.

Your love has truly opened my eyes
My whole world is now comprised
Of joy and contentment within my soul
After all this time, I finally know
That my heart has found and will never lose yours.

Soul's Window

The window of my soul

Opens to let in the pure love

Of something I’ve never known.

At first, the window is just cracked

Letting in a gentle breeze of blessings

Just enough to not close back.

Then, I open the window a bit more,

Which lets in the warmth of peace

A feeling that I want to explore.

Gradually, the window’s open halfway

But debris of tribulations enter.

These hardship are a small price to pay.

Finally, I open the window fully,

Which lets in the nature of holiness.

This entity I embrace freely.

Eternally, the window will be open

To allow for the free flowing of love throughout

A joy that will always be obtainable within

Relaxation

Eyes wide shut, but senses heightened
Total peace and serenity
Not a care in the world, my heart’s content
From now until eternity.

Inhale the warmth of bliss, ever quenching
Exhale the troubles of life
Feeling like a new creature, new beginning
A virgin to pain and strife.

Unceasing joy upon my face, a constant gleam
A twinkle in my eye
Sunshine seeping from my pores, all-consuming
A never-ending supply.

Love emitting from my spirit, overflowing
A tangible gift from above
Feeling beauty, splendor, and glee—amazing
All-encompassing like a glove.
