The Convicted

The Convicted
For Haiti

I am the Niobic victim
Turned to stone
At the cry of the earth
And my hopes, lost in
The cleft, captured by
A wayward earthquake

     Why me? Mother Nature
     Why do I deserve
     This sheer massacre?
     Wait a minute!
Are you just angry at me?
Am I in the conspicuous shoe?
     As Dothan, Koram, and Abiram
     Against you

I am the convicted land
Of ravenous earthquake
Of De-nutrient hope
And flickering future
Whose smile received the
Malignant woe
And my happiness now garnered
For entombment in a national grave

     Mother Nature, Mother Nature
     Why have you cruelly decided
To leave me in this wanton debris
     Of strangled status?
     Why so angry at me?
     That my green hope slipped
Now you’re satisfied at my wreckage
     Aren’t you?

Hark now, o ye victimized
For tomorrow, the eclipsed moon
Will shine to reincarnate the
Captured hope
And the entombed happiness shall blossom
Shining and glowing as the ginger embrace
Of the morning sun
On your De-nutrient hope

The Sword Is On the Field

For those who should
Be on watch
In our defense
Opted for a romance with her
Chasing the treasures on her neck
In an endless discovery

The Sword is on the field….
For they have trodden the path
Of small is not beautiful
In a parasitic center
Drunk with wine in which
Is dissipation
While the sword drinks in mirth
The blood of contemporaneity
Our confessed sentinels
Have refused to stand
Girding their waists with altruism
These voluptuous sentinels
Forgot,
The river that draws the battle line
With its origin will not live to grind the axe

The Sword is on the field
For they decided
To sheath their sword
Even the shield and the helmet
Watched intrepidly at the ordnance
Shaking their heads in utter dismay

The Sword is on the field
It is yet to be satiated
For the elects
Shod their feet
Verbalizing false gospel of oneness
With unedifying necessities
That imparts no grace to the hearers

The Sword is on the field….
And the field in ceaseless flow of bloodied democracy
In ceaseless flow with dumdum bullets
The master’s sword of legitimacy
Is undermined
And the sword bruised sanctity

Still, The Sword is on the field!
Where shall we run?
When small is not beautiful
We sanctify the field
But the blood
Would not cease to flow

Echo of Silence

Echo of Silence

In an allegorical abode
Where no one has ever been
There I abide
Staring the solitary beam
That paints my heart with happiness
Walk resplendently through the quietness
Of winds

Suddenly, I felt an echo outrun me
And as a touch of the cold blade
Of an invisible sword
I was harried
Fear grasped me in the throat
With its cold hand
In an allegorical abode
Where no one has ever been
Where
       Comes
             The echo
Where?

Silence had its place in this abode
It dwelled in the silence of dusk and dawn

You remember that silent night?
When a king was born

Then I half-spoke
And my voice went before me
Like a thunderstorm
In the barren terrain of an open cosmos
Asking, who is there? Who are you?
What?

I’m alone, murmured my heart
Who must have induced such echo?
That fretted my tranquil nerves
Asked my lead mind

And sequel to the perfect silence
That answered my questions
Then I realized
It was an echo of silence
S
  I
   L
    E
     N
       C
         E

That had its place in the abode

The Omnipotent

He began before the beginning began
Before the beginning had a beginning
He was in the beginning
The source of all existence
For before anything existed
He is existent
He is God, the Omnipotent

Emotion

Emotion is my strength
I shall not fret
He makes to sit with feelings in deep thought
At a high realm
He leads me beside the shore of flowing thoughts
Of creative composition
He leads me in the path of literature
For his name’s sake
Yea, though I walk through the solitary
Place of poetry
I will not lack feelings
For he is with me
Poetic device and literary terms, they comfort me
And he made me appreciate literature

Feature your future
That your future would feature
You in the future
The future of your hope
Your hope of dreams
Your dreams of success

     Today,
     Feature your future

     Today,
     Once a future hoped for

For if you fail
To feature your future today
Your future would fail
You to feature tomorrow

     Now,
     Feature your future
