Avijeet Das Poem
A Tribute to the Great Master's Composition -Sonnet 18
Shall I compare thee to the Moon's Sublimity?
Thou art more tender and more sensitive:
Serene breeze does twirl the treacly toes of November,
And winter's spell hath all too soft a note;
Sometime too cold the eye of the needle shines,
And often is his silver resplendence shown,
And every dare from dare begins,
By fluke or legerdemain nature's epiphanies undeliverable;
But thy nocturnal winter shall not give shade
Nor lose affection of that rare thou become'st;
Nor shall health drab thou asunder'st in his tread,
When in pensive wines to years thou grow'st;
So long as we can discern or we can redolence be
So long is preserved this is and this will make thee.

Avijeet Das Poem
I have been blessed to come across many inspiring women in my life. From the women in my family and friends to the women in my office and my students. And the women who are my colleagues, fellow writers, and artistes!
This poem of mine titled "You are Fire" is dedicated to all the Inspiring girls and women in our world:
"You are Fire!"
Don’t believe these mere mortals.
They want to put you on a pedestal
and sing paeans to you;
later they would burn you
in the altar of that same fire!
Stand away and stand alone!
You are limitless!
But these mortals can only limit your sky!
You are the Universe!
But they will only give you a little space!
Break free! It’s a trap!
They want to cage you!
Because, they are afraid of your real power!
You are a woman.
You are the fire!
You are all conquering.
You are all powerful!
You are Supreme!
You were not born to be a mere beauty queen!!

Avijeet Das Poem
Innocent teary eyes
grief stricken face
you look everywhere with fear
and with feelings of helpless pain!
when you should be playing with
dolls and dancing in the rain!
neither do you like to wear
new dresses,
nor sing, laugh, and play with the
toy train!
Oh my dearest sweet child!
please forgive us
all we men,
for we have made this world
fit for only guns, bombs and
acid rain!
- Avijeet Das
I wrote this poem "Oh Syria" three years ago when I came across the photograph and news of Hudea, this innocent four year old Syrian Girl who when the photographer pointed the camera towards her to take her photo, thought it was a gun and became so scared that she raised her hand thinking the photographer was trying to shoot her!
I cry every time I see this photograph. Though we all may not be related but we do feel the pain of children and other human beings in our world. I wish all fightings and wars would end and the innocent children of our world lead a happy and carefree life! - Avijeet Das

Avijeet Das Poem
The memories come back
like the rainbow after the rain
with all the hues and shades of color
and an unending train
the Bougainvillea tree nearby
my parents house where I grew up
did not ask me my name
she embraced me as she had done
in my schooldays in
every way the same
the little squirrel just now
tip-toed down the lane
looking at the spectacle
unfolding in the rain
after all these years
I have come back to my parents home
the clouds have different shapes
but the air smells the same ...

Avijeet Das Poem
“I am a poet. I love this planet earth. This is a beautiful place. It is our home. I feel happy under the blue sky. I feel calm above the green grass. A part of me is the soil. A part of me is the water. A part of me is the breeze. I am from nowhere. Yet, I belong everywhere. I am a poet. I love this planet earth.”
