The Pride of a Black Man

The Pride of a Black Man…
is evident from birth
from day one he’s the strongest on earth
It grows in him like a planted seed
giving him the will and fortitude he’ll need

The Pride of a Black Man…
is what makes him unique
giving him that special quality others seek
It makes him stand tall on the darkest days
his mettle never ceases to amaze

The Pride of a Black Man…
is what makes him whole
embedded in his heart and soul
It’s what drives him to be the best
enabling him to withstand any test

The Pride of a Black Man…
is a wondrous thing
passed down from African Kings
It has survived slavery, apartheid, and segregation
Manifested into id and Kwanzaa celebrations

The Pride of a Black Man…
is Evers, King, and X
Mandela, Farrakhan, and whoever steps up next
It’s a Panther struggling, fighting for a cause
dying for his people not applause

The Pride of a Black Man…
is all he has at times
but its powers are sublime
It’s what allows him to be
at once imprisoned and free

More Than... Ever

More Than... Ever

My Angel I Love You more than ever
More than words and phrases that are clever
I Love You more than our amazing always
More than our amazing nights and days
I Love You more than an anniversary card or gift
More than a liposuction, tummy tuck, or breast lift
I Love You more than my shallow soul can feel
More than any man has, could , or ever will
I Love You more than you could ever conceive
More than your beautiful mind could ever believe
I Love You more than I could imagine being true
More than the Lord Himself could ever love you
I Love You more than my heart could ever say
More than mere mortal words could ever convey
I Love You more than words or phrases that are clever
My Angel I will forever(x2) Love You more than ... ever

I Dare You

I dare you to let go
Tell me all I need to know
To love you like I can
So I can be your dream man

I dare you to feel free
To confide in me
Tell me what you hold inside
The secrets you try to hide

I dare you to show me you care
To lay your heart bare
Show me that I’m not alone
That you are my backbone

I dare you to open your heart
Let me feel your most fragile part
Give me access to your soul
So we can become whole

I dare you to give me your trust
So there can always be an us
Put your faith in me
Dare to see how good our life can be

Blessed I Sight

In my eyes
You are the majestic moon and brilliant sun
Nights and days of never ending fantasy fun
The beautiful blue of a heavenly clear sky
A sandy beach where my love will forever lie

In my eyes
You are the beautiful butterfly floating on the wind
An amazing romance novel I never want to end
The harmonizing birds whose voice and wings fill the air
A precious jewel that is more miracle than rare

In my eyes
You are the fragrant flowers that elate my nose
The most wonderful words ever put into prose
A love song that brings endless joy to my heart
A masterpiece, the pinnacle of priceless art

In my eyes
You are the reason everyone knows the Lord exist
A spectacular force of nature no one can resist
A blissful blessed always I know will come true
A blissful blessed life that will last forever x 2

A Short Note

A Short Note

I just sat down to write this short note to you
No particular reason my heart just wanted to
You know, My Angel, loving you is lifelong hard work
The easy times are just a blissful lifelong perk
I have to constantly think of creative new ways
To heat up your nights and brighten your days
Try to make you see that forever x 2 is not a plan but fate
Make you see that you are more than my wife and soulmate
You need to understand that I truly love you more than…
That I will always truly be your BLACKMAN
My Angel you are my beautiful blessed destiny
Your love will forever bring out the best in me
I don’t write you because I want to
I write you because my heart has to speak to you
To tell you the depth of the feelings I hold inside
How your love keeps my heart & soul on a utopian joyride
Our love is magnificently infinite like the wonders of space
You will infinitely occupy my heart, your special place
My Angel I guess it’s time to bring this note to an end
Forever Yours, your husband, your lover, your friend

- + - = +

I know I’m supposed to be humble or should I say tame
But I’m positive it’s negative to stay in that mind frame
I’m trying to raise the consciousness of my black brothers
So we don’t continue to look negatively at one another
Negativity is usually associated with the color black
That doesn’t mean we should be ashamed of the skin on our back
It’s hard when everywhere you look
The color black has a negative hook
The bad guys always wear a black hat
It’s bad luck to cross a black cat
It’s illegal to shop on the black market
Get blackballed and you’re an exiled target
Negativity associated with black has a long list
It’s ingrained from birth in our consciousness
With that negativity in the back of our mind
We develop a negative outlook on our own kind
Those negatives can become an inspiring plus
If we use them as inspiration to unite us
History shows how astonishingly strong we are
The most willful and resilient by far
After all as a people we’ve had to endure
We should never be ashamed or unsure
Our confidence and pride should be sky high
Uniting us as a heroic one until the day we die
Every brother should stand together and shout
Let the world know we refuse to be blacked out
If we want it everything is positively ours to get
First we have to change our negative mind set
Power can be obtained if we stand together
Positively exalting Black Power forever
