autumn eclipse DHR

Before the sky claimed them, they were only a man and a woman
two mortals foolish enough to love
The gods took pity on no one.
He became the Red Man Sun,
a blazing titan shackled to the sky,
forced to rise each morning for a world
that feeds on his fire
but denies him freedom.
His heat once warmed her skin in the autumn wind
now it burns him alive from the inside,
She became the Blue harvest Moon,
cold with grief,
the long dark nights she brings light autumn is gone
her love lingers on
She chases him endlessly,
a breath too late
he rises and she falls
As the full blue harvest moon chases the autumn sun
awaiting an eclipse
A glimpse of their love that once was
the sky itself is their prison
Still, they reached for each other
forever almost touching,
forever denied.
The Red Man Sun.
The Blue harvest Moon.

A SINGLE MOTHERS GREATEST LIE

I want to miss my kids
I want to see my hair no crumbs or cheese whiz
I want to enjoy healthy friendships
outings like camping and family things
me plus one for a change
I’m so tired of doing everything on my own
I’m always that single mom who’s alone
no partner, no man, just me,
Here I am
no other family, just a loner.
the judge me like a park perv with a *****
the way they look at me, like they pity me,
It was healthier than living with his violent mistakes
No sorry is good enough
When a man treats you worse than his stuff
Society sees a woman that can’t keep a man
They don’t see a woman strong enough to stand
Alone without allowing the disrespect to go on
Every carnival, every movie, every oil change, every bill I pay
Every flat tire every mile
every family photo a forced smile
the biggest lie ever sold
is too tell a woman she can have it all alone
she’s ripped apart shredded at each end
not knowing where she ends and the kids begin
night from day’
far from child's play
but something like a living nightmare
every lonely not long enough exhausted no rest day

loved you like the devil

Worlds apart in the same place
We were both hot in the race
Gunnin for trouble at a
6 minute a mile pace
Looking straight at the devil sittin shotgun
wiping lines off the mirror and off our face
I knew your smell I recognized your soul from a 100 yards away
You took my breath
you made me blush
You said come on if you aint scared
 I called your bluff
I jumped up in your red hummer truck
Red lipstick on a flawless wild woman child’s face
you don’t know how you knew
you knew it been a while
but you knew me before
before this time and space
We took the back road
Now I wish we would have taken the long way
Knowing what I know now
But It’s too late
I was living in heaven on the fastest route to hell
I don’t know if we both knew that or if we just didn’t care
I know one thing I would have taken that ride anyway
So it’s just as well
Now were worlds apart
The days and years run together
Where I am where I’m going I can’t much tell
but it’s just as well
I feel your skin
I smell your breath
Polo black cologne on your brown sugar colored neck
your wagon burning tattoo
you stole my heart in the dark
Bare naked chest to chest
Breathing hard under the moon moaning like wolves
Rediscovering fate
Riding it out to reel it on in
We were living like we were dying
 It was just the beginning
No care for the world
cold stares from the world
They hadn’t forgotten about us
But we refused to acknowledge them
We played like friends
Fought like lovers
Forgot all our troubles even while they doubled
We denied our feelings with our addictions
we pushed and pulled at one another with misdirected intentions
We fought every minute just to make up
A slave to our lust and attraction
And its just as well
I know the scars on your hands
I remember our last dance
But overnight
Were worlds apart in the same place
I smell your body though you’re gone
The memory of you forever engraved in my head space
  your beautiful face
Your laugh and sarcasm
A Captured moment of time
ITS YOU I just can’t erase
And it’s just as well
Were worlds apart in the same place
Loving each other but both dying alone,
I can Hardly say we are living at all
20 years later we are still worlds apart and married
But something has shifted
You have changed
Is this the ending
I can’t tell
No one hears me scream and yell
Deep into my pillow tears drowned the cotton and muffle the sound
It’s just as well
If it’s over
I can’t say
I can’t tell
I know we will never forget
But I don’t know if we can ever get back
Would we choose the same back road
Its just as well
 its been hell
If we had the chance to meet again in this timeline
Do you even care
Still riding shotgun with the devil
 me in the middle
It’s just as well
I see you look at me in the review mirror
I smile as you pull away
I catch your eyes I feel your hand give way
You keep driving
But your still apart of my soul
I turn and walk away
The love never really fades
And it’s just as well

she's a river

SHES A RIVER
Her life is like that of a river,
persistent and unpredictable.
She carved her life in the California mountain peeks
following the creeks,
creating her own current at just fifteen—
forge on
she dammed fears and tears that tore at her spirit
childish emotions raged inside
Forge on
once she would fall
many came to see the wonder of it all
but eventually a comfortable place called home.
was the place she felt most alone
forge on
All that trapped her today would eventually be torn away
resurfacing through the cracks of where she had been,
forge on
She smiled glistening to see the sun, her old friend
to be united with something so bright and warm again
then fog crept in to elude her
and the sun crept out to remind her
Forge on
And at the fork of her life’s journey,
a paradise awaits—
one worthy of envy.
Forge on
