Michelle Etienne Poem
Why do you wonder who I might be
why I make the decisions I make
all because its me
living in a world always trying to please
overlooking my needs
all because its me
Making many mistakes ending last or
starting over
all because its me
Not trying to be someone im not
faking to please all others
all because its me
inside I struggle with pain and cry inside
never asked me once how I feel or my I cry
all because its me
my world is not your world I want to be free
live my life to choose my own path
I dont give a damn what society thinks I should be
Im living my life for me
all because its me
this is who I am

Michelle Etienne Poem
Where will I go for someone to listen to me
hear my cries, feel my tears
screaming inside blank stare on my face
wanting to scream for someone to hear me
living in a world in my four cornered room
wondering why i converse with the walls or the pages of my book.
thats where I go for someone to listen to me
no mis-judgements or comments made
why do i do this to myself its all that I know
wanting to break the silent cycle of isolation
misunderstood, labeled helpless, still I scream inside

Michelle Etienne Poem
I only saw the monster everyday
he ruined every single day
the pain i felt when you broke her down
Hit, swing , punch!
Each time tears automatically ran down
you stole the joy...run not a sound
Fear to flight ....clost space
Hands over ears, close my eyes
Make the monster go away
My dolls necks cut...crossed out eyes
a child 2, 3, 4, 5 years old
saw the monster scar my face
torn soul now grown
My story of the monster

Michelle Etienne Poem
humming sounds sweat down their face people shipped across the seas. Still, the soul sing chained on display sold as a slave forced to clear the crops and pick cotton on plantations humming sounds still The soul, sing, raped, violated, whipped and hung the souls of my Louisiana ancestors still the soul sings taken from a land chained up men, women and children their souls ripped out what memories loss, skin scar blood into tears sing from the soul shame the devil the fire burns in my heart. My soul rest in hell and I will join in soul singing.

Michelle Etienne Poem
Father
what does that really mean
never there for me never cared for me
I stood there all alone
Your child your daughter
no protection for me
you not only scared me
you left me with a scar on my face
no pitty no shame I faced the world
as I do now all alone
Does it hurt....yes
Do I care No can't miss what never had
Not uncommon, kids left to fend for themselves
all alone please care for them
Fathers today put it down
cherish your girls
So they will know what it really means to say
Father

Michelle Etienne Poem
pain has kept me alive when I can. I surrender and let go a life of pain. You do not cry. The hurt feels like another day accustomed to sorrow disappointment letdowns no protection from the cruel world left alone forgotten Num to the daily interactions, annoyed by your negative presence the size the fake reactions always got complaint isolation death miss opportunities to make things right I close my eyes waiting to be free.

Michelle Etienne Poem
What is Society
A set of rules to follow
or ways to live a life
What others feel you should do
standards , some basic, some civil others federal
How can you be yourself, an individual
free from chains, morals, beliefs
all from a book, a paper, constitution, 1776
but today is 2026
Societies path follows a brick road to a picket fence, or
a basket parked by the line giving a hot meal,
a rock hard sidewalk, a car covered window,
tap tap tap, gotta move
Where does the path lead
Gotta choose, dust the dirt off
make a change for another place in
Society

Michelle Etienne Poem
Cme out
Door closed, surrounded by walls
sealed inside , darkness, cries, sadness, lost soul
Look around, alone, scared, confusion, cold
I scream, anyone there?
No responce
I scream, please help me?
NO responce
stand up walls too high
reach out to feel something
nothing but darkness
I scream is this real
No responce
weakness, no strength, my legs collapse
I fall crotched down in a ball , rocking slowly, tears fall
my hands grab my head, am I in trouble, the yelling echos in my head
I look up and see the light, but I cant reach it
the only sound is the voice in my head,
I scream Please stop talking, I scream STOP!
I hold my breathe, 1 minute, 2 minutes exhale deep breathe in
open your eyes, stand up, leave those thoughts in the dark
You know it will come again, maybe less time
Written down: Come out, the world is right outside your door.
The child inside is an adult, fighting whats behind that closed door

Michelle Etienne Poem
My bestie friend has gone away
taken away that faithful day
I can't believe you are really gone
why you go and left me alone
I guess it was time according to God
I cannot shake this oh my God
I just saw you not that long ago
that faithful day you were alone
I feel so lost I dont believe it
I cant even go to see your mother
if I do I know I will cry
I dont want her to see the redness in my eyes
Its been two years I still feel sorrow
Im so lost and wish I could borrow
the strength of someone stronger then me
As I write this I still hope you will remember me
Until that day I will see you around
push the last of the dirt from the ground
one last breathe
one last tear
I miss you my friend
especially when Im still here
