Manaledi Lerato Mapena Poem
Xenophobia: Apartheid
Isn't xenophobia the same as apartheid?
I am asking for what happened in the past is what is happening today.
We face the same things as our grandparents were facing in the past.
We are just revolving around the same cycle of: abduction
Violation
Eviction Victimisation
Discrimination Racism
Sexism Retribution,
etc...
Question is, who will break this cycle?
Who will say no to xenophobia!
I HAVE!!!
Africans let us all unite!
South Africans let us remember that before we say that we are South Africans
We are Africans!!!

Manaledi Lerato Mapena Poem
I so badly wanted to write a poem
A love poem that is
But thoughts of you, yes you, you dushe-bag stopped me
Your slimy comments “did she write that for a she or a he?”
“Gosh you know I always question her sexuality”
Dimmitt you don’t even have the guts to come up to me and ask me
So I could tell you that it’s none of your business and get it over and done with
I wanted to let my pen make love to my paper in the rhythm of my muse
Wanted to describe love as the most desirable feeling ever felt
Wanted to write about how with love the stone called anger melt
How love turned grudges into kindness
After writing that poem I would have felt like a karate kid with a black-belt
I wanted to pour out my thoughts about love, a feeling so bliss
A lover’s kiss
That tasted more like chocolate, Swiss
But you just had to come into my mind and disable my ability to write it
All I just wanted was to write a poem and share it
Accept questions on it, no interrogation
Share our thoughts and criticism, no patronization
You know what, I’ll write this poem anyways, and here it goes:
L-O-V-E

Manaledi Lerato Mapena Poem
OH PRECIOUS DROPLET
From ten thousand meters above
You melted from an ice
Slowly you flew down
And unlike a tear from my eyes
You seen pure, so natural
You flew against my skin
So you stopped rushing
You flew against the earth
I could not recognize you from then
Oh precious droplet
Why did you disappear like that?

Manaledi Lerato Mapena Poem
Oh if I could get one more kiss
I would quit eating sweets
I swear to you would stop eating ice cream
For that taste of your mouth would satisfy me
With you I am in-love
And I always feel warm and tendered with love
whenever I'm in your arms
I feel your heart
It beats right when close to mine
No wonder I don't want to let go of your hugs
Its because with you I am in-love...

Manaledi Lerato Mapena Poem
I have heard so many
harmonies
But 'she is the sweetest
melody'
This is not new, this is no
news
Don't know it? You havn't
been tuned!

Manaledi Lerato Mapena Poem
I was beautiful child
Beautiful and so kind
When all I had was just mine
When I had a clearer mind
When no-one could fake a smile
When war was still very far
When I had non of these scars
I was beautiful child
Beautiful and so kind
When I had nothing to fear
When my conscience was still clear
When I had no pain to bare
When all those I loved were near
And only positive things I could hear
I was beautiful child
Beautiful and so kind
You could see innocence in my face
I knew when love was just fake
When life was never compromised
Was never at stake
When my heart was a specal, warm
place
I was beautiful child
Beautiful and so kind
I was beautiful child
Beautiful inside out!
