Brayden Markley Poem
I love you.
And because I do, I want to say I’m sorry,
Not for the sins I may have committed, but for who I am.
Unknowingly, I’ve slowly suffocated you—
Smothered you with attention, and not for your benefit but mine.
And though my heart may not stop to think about my actions, my brain does,
Sending warning after warning, when I may step too far.
And there’s only one answer why neither my brain, nor my heart can stop.
It’s because—
I love you.

Brayden Markley Poem
Your dress dazzling bright, my mind flying high, like a kite.
Beyond the clouds, into the starry night,
To meet the goddess’ might. Though, she just intends to fright.
Even with her pearly white light, her life is naught, but to plight.
However, I myself cannot seem to become her light, in the darkness of night.

Brayden Markley Poem
Fly not too high, nor too close, for your wings may ascend, but also descend.
Become not arrogant, nor too ambitious, for you may think you won, but have not.
No confined walls, nor no ruler, for you may soar and roar, but do not forget.
Warning not obeyed, nor a sense of self, for you may be high, but end low.
Dimly lit sky, nor a person in sight—father beckoning me down, I did not listen.
Arousing aroma uplifting, nor my senses tingling, it was too late when I realized.
Dazzling lights ‘round. Blinding. Deadly. Hollow. My wings broiled to the touch.
Had I obeyed my father's warning, I may have realized. High. Too high, I had reached.
My wings melted and I fell. Ambitious I was. Foolish I was. My last flight was hardly a fight.
