coffee

there's a marriage once again
in the early morning light;
the customers are hungry
so there's no rest in sight.

spoons can sound like wedding bells
if you listen close;
scoop sugar into lip stained mugs,
quite a healthy dose.

see one hand brush the other
as i hurry by;
my heart pangs once again,
though i wonder why,

i pour half empty pots,
they go to one from two,
and as they're being married
i stop and think of you.

Quiet Things

Creaking doors
And groaning stairs
Apple cores
And static hairs
Crooked pictures on the wall
Dimming lights down the hall
Quiet buzzing all around
Quiet buzzing, silent sound
Yellow light
Not too bright
Warms you up
Filters your sight
Clock ticking through the day
No one here
Nothing to say
Waiting for the turning lock
That brings the bubbling sound of talk
They bring quiet things
Like steps on floors
Like creaking stairs
And groaning doors

the crowd

so bring out the fanfare!
clash your monkey symbols
and i'll play the morning horn.
wake up! reveille! come out!
the crowd's hands are reaching, clawing;
sweltering sun drips onto their faces.
BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT
let's go to the zoo!
what if we saw a bird in a cage?
what if we took a bird from it's cage?
what if i love the bird so much it won't stop shrieking?
all we want is FUN FUN FUN
sunburn love!
tilt-a-whirl love!
triple back flip love!

but when the sky begins to falter,
and the silver breeze begins her dance,
slip away from the clamour and the laughter,
and come find firefly love.
the next breath will arrive, so there's no need to hurry.
one day the crowd will tire of
their games, till then,
find peace in dewy eyes
who's gaze cannot be found, save
for in whispering fields,
dim light windows, and
the touch of creatures
tender and unknown,
to all
but i.

girl love

We sit together,
all legs and breath and sweat.
Our love is like honey, raw and sticky sweet,
open wound blood from a scraped knee.
I take it pumped into my veins,
pulsing through my arteries,
bite my lip just to taste it.
Sink our teeth into each other like we're tender meat;
juices dripping down my chin.
The blurry light of a heat wave felt
in the aching wind moving waves, hair, and heart.
The humming fan overhead mixes
with the ringing in my ears,
and I know forever cannot stay,
but in the silence, she is here.

wind + honey (wanting)

give me your velveteen touch;
as careful hands brush eager skin
caution and desire fuse so gently,
and dance angel sighs
into my aching bones.

the longing on your lips
tastes of rain,
so sweet after the dry heat of summer,
when the sun burned + i called it love.

now it's all wind;
from your mouth,
through the poplar leaves,
down my spine.

oh to be so wanted!
to consume without savouring,
as though there will always be
more.

the honeyed nectar
of your words and eyes
is spoon fed onto my waiting tongue.
i smile as i drink;
my teeth are sticky + so are yours.
