Almas Ahmed Tijani Poem
That thing is ringing in my ear once more
it makes my ears feel really sore
it affects my conscience
my body
my mind
my soul
a fiend
a foe
an entity in demise
it's a voice
a tone
a thing I hate
but it sounds awfully familiar
like a very close mate
it tells me to quit
it tells me to stop
it reminds me again and again
you're not good at all
your writing is bad
your talent, nonexistent
as I listen close
its familiarity attracts me
it sounds too familiar
almost like someone I've known my whole life
trying to do what I love, I ignore it
trying my best to pick up the pen
only for the ringing, the voice in my head, to strike
let go, it says
reminding me of the invisible talent I possess
a talent that exists but is faint like the strokes of my worn-out lucky pencil
grabbing my curls and feeling it between my fingers, I pull hard
almost ripping the hairs off my scalp
I scream, leave me
it screams back
never
in a familiar hissing tone that sends the hairs on my neck standing
I realize
its mine
the voice
only now do realize I have been the one tormenting myself all along
an enemy from within
judging myself
killing myself
I sit in a corner
thinking to myself
Is this voice in my head truly mine?

Almas Ahmed Tijani Poem
I won’t forget you
I swear
The first thing they say when we leave this earth
As we feel the stomps of their footsteps
Leave the side of our grave
Echoes of cries that soon fade away
Laying alone in darkness
A void
Nothingness
Waiting to be judged
The memories
The times
The joy
Start to flash before our eyes as we try to control them
They sleep and remember our passing
But soon smile along the line
For their lives are still to be lived
Being in the grave is being forgotten
Being dead is being history
To just feel like a past memory
Death takes our existence socially
Death degrades us
And makes us nobody
Thy begin to go back on their word
Forgetting us
Our passing
Our existence
Our memories
As we still lay there
Dark, empty, void
Death makes us history
Death makes us forgotten
