Lori Watts Poem
As if judge, jury and conviction, cancer asked for no quorum as she changed & re-invented the rules of my life’s game;
Like a thief in the night, cancer mounts the starting block in a quest to seize my hard earned gold medal;
As poison races through her veins, like a wild fire out of control, she recoils with intent to explode off the start;
As both the competitor & the Marshall, cancer takes to the podium, commanding an inaudible “Take your Mark”
With ravenous intent, she pulls the trigger, releasing hell fire onto a quiet night of moonlit innocence, silently reeking havoc in the depths of the soul & under the cover of dark shadows so as not to be seen or noticed;
Once scorched earth is discovered, innocence fades & the light of truth blinds as the sharp realization of my mortality comes into clear focus, followed quickly by a gut punch response; the need to dig deep, step up to that starting block, collecting the mastery of my entire being within seconds;
As I wage war, the Beast feigns an early defeat while she lies in wait; watching, observing & learning for next time she calls “Take your Mark”;
Know that we too are watching, observing & learning. Although there is no evidence, I see you. I know you are there, waiting in the shadows, where moonlit innocence used to live.

Lori Watts Poem
Who is this force of power seducing my mind and enveloping my soul?
Flows of passion;
Ebbs of anger;
Flows of laughter;
Ebbs of silence.
Waves of love come crashing down on me…
the sand pulling me in as we become one with the waves.
He is my water, my love, my life.
