Js Sui Poem
There is a tippy man on the roof of my neighbor’s house,
Black, flashy dress suit and brown, worn-out dress shoes,
He was wobbling like a drunk man two stairs off the ground.
How he got there,
I honestly don’t know, but he’s now running like a mouse.
He’s running like a mouse on my neighbor’s roof.
*CLING CLACKADI CLACK
Every time his shoes knocked on the bricks,
There’s a rhythm to his kicks.
Then, as if he saw me with my stare,
He performed a little tippy dance and then tipped off his hat,
But the wind blew right, and it flew off like an orange cat.
I gave him a smirk and saw his stupefied look.
He was standing so still without any fitting words.
You can say that blew right over his head.
I continued to stare while he continued to run,
Now adding jumps and humps like a tippy dance.
I can’t say what it is about, nor do I know what it really is,
But it looked like a bird wobbling and flapping its wings up in the air.
If only I could hear emotions or ideas in his mind,
It would most certainly have a musically magical ring!
His dance was out of this world,
And so was my mind that followed his dance.
In the end, he was still on my neighbor’s roof,
Except now he is dancing,
running, jumping, humping, lumping, bumping, rumbling
Something I can’t touch or avert, and certainly enjoyed.
Though my neighbor must have been very concerned,
As I saw him quite busy inspecting.
He checked every corner of his house and every possible spot.
“WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THIS DAMN SOUND COMING FROM!”
He would yell at the top of his lungs,
With a face red as a tomato,
His round head dangled like an overly inflated balloon.
He sure looked happy.

Js Sui Poem
While I watch this drama unfold,
A weird feeling keeps bothering me.
Like an itch from a mosquito or a chip in your tooth
That you keep coming back to itch it or lick it,
But it just gets worse and worse and worse.
I want to be a part of this drama….
I wiggled into my brown coat,
Flung off my blue striped pajamas,
Wait, no,
Reverse that, I flung my pajamas off first,
And then I threw on my coat.
As soon as I embraced my coat, it felt like an oven,
Smelled of soft paste to a delicious chocolate chip cookie.
I rushed down two flights of squeaky stairs and finally,
I wobbled down into the streets.
It was snowing,
Glistening and shining, magnificent and beautiful,
And cold.
My eyes wandered from left to right,
Empty.
Where is everybody?
I rubbed my eyes and squinted some more,
Until lights began to flicker and colors began to fade.
I felt lonely. Very. Very. Lonely.
If only I had stayed in there and continued watching.
If only I hadn’t rushed down into the empty streets.
I curled up into a ball and waited for the snow to cover me.
“Hey neighbor! What are you doing out there!”
I whisper back to him in this storm.
“leave me alone. it was too much to bear.”
“What’s too bare? Your fingers and your toes that are freezing out there?
Come join us for a drink!”
I gathered all my final strength and took a peek at the light.
I gasped out loud, shocked and delighted.
“Mr. Tippy! And Mr. Happy!”
I rushed to my neighbor’s house while they let down a ladder to the ground.
*zippy zappidi zoopadi flop
Every step I climbed upwards was a happy tippy dance,
Followed, of course, by a magical note up on the roof.
The ladder seemed so long, but in a blink, I was on the top.
I saw Mr. Tippy is still dancing his musical and magical dance.
I saw Mr. Happy no longer red as a tomato.
Then the dancing man reached out his hand,
He gave me a smile and a pair of twinkling eyes.
He reached out a hand to me and a hand to Mr. Happy, then,
The three of us, Mr. Tippy, Mr. Happy, and I,
Danced whimsical jazz and ballroom dance,
On Mr. Tippy and Mr. Happy’s roof.

Js Sui Poem
Staring, dreaming, agonizing over every detail
Why do your smiles fill my heart full of running ale
Which shade of red will cover
Your waist and shoulders tonight
I’ll order a pair of cocktails
And put my mind on sale
To make a deal with god
Or an offer down below
I’ll promise you more than kisses
Something you simply cannot resist
But before I have the gems and crown
Before my mind is handed down
Look the other way for now
Like you’ve always done forever

Js Sui Poem
I once saw you across the room
Scribbling letters into a journal like I am now
A hint of red hid underneath the surface
Your flannel, as usual, slightly oversized
droop past the beginning of the steel legs
but not to the ground
Music
I could not hear enticed your ears that day
I stared - unpolite I know - but words stumbled
and fell to the floor
failing to form a line of greeting
Were you well?
Was it madness that absorbed you into a world of your own?
Was it the letter filled with kisses from you lover -
which you opened days prior?
Or was it simply boredom to be alone in that room
The loneliness of trying to understand
and to be understood in return
May I be in there somewhere?
These questions made up my meals and dreams that day
and the day after
and now
To know that we were once alone in that room
But silence and loudness collide at once

Js Sui Poem
The island dreams ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
And ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ dance ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ sways upon ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ the ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ sea.
Here we ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ wander ¦¦¦¦ with woven hands,
Murmuring ¦¦¦¦¦¦ lip to lip,
Along ¦¦¦ grass, along ¦¦¦ sands,
Murmuring ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ away ¦¦¦ the unquiet lands:
How ¦¦¦ alone ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
A ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ burning heart,
One with ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ wings ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ heavy ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ dove
¦¦¦¦ moans ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ a hundred days:
How ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ eve ¦¦¦ hushed the feathered ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ blaze.
