Susan Dudu Poem
You are my world you are my life
My future hope
You are my promise of a better tomorrow
For you my heart beats with the rhythm
That no one can overcome
For you I breathe
I love to be called by your name
In my heart you are the only flame
I look at you and I thank the universe bringing you my way
my life before you was empty, void and without meaning
Now I have something to live for
Never have I felt a Love so strong it brings tears to my eyes
never have I beheld such an angelic face
I still believe I'm in a dream
A dream from which I never want to wake
For you I will go to the ends of the earth
For you I will climb the highest mountains
So take my hand as we walk this road
Take my heart for it is yours
For in your love I found my light

Susan Dudu Poem
Winter is not forever
Those dark clouds you see tonight
Will be gone by daylight
Summer will soon be here
And the sun will soon shine
Nothing lasts forever including winter
Winter is not forever
Even if it rains all day
The sun will shine again
And spring will be here

Susan Dudu Poem
out in the heights of the land
i see her children coming,
from the banks of the rivers returning
it is the children of Africa i see
Africa, why do your children kill one another?
why do they hate and destroy each other?
you that makes wealth for other nations,
your children live in abject poverty!
you that has it all lacks so much!
why do you still wear these shackles of poverty and want?
why do you still suffer so much?
Africa you can make it if you try!
you can achieve greatness
because the dream i have of Africa is one of greatness
i know that for sure the day of you redemption is close at hand
because is see your children coming together
loving one another
in my dream i see them all gathered around your table to a feast
an AFRICAN feast
i see them as a strong united front
and you Africa enjoying the love of your children
arise now oh Africa!for the season of your greatness has come
and Africa, you shall live forever in the glory of you children!

Susan Dudu Poem
coming at the time i least expected
bringing so much joy to my life
day in day out we share more laughs
i laugh when you laugh
and feel depressed when you are sad
i never knew life could be so much fun
i never knew i could laugh jump and run
until you came and showed me how
for i was on the verge of collapse right before you came
your smiles and every giggle bring sunshine to my soul
thanks for binging sunshine to my life
you are and always will be
my sunshine sweetheart and brother
keep being you
and i will keep loving you

Susan Dudu Poem
when you see the flowers bloom
when you hear the birds sing
when you feel the gentle breeze caress your cheeks
and you smell the sweet scent of the roses
when you are free to go where you want, when you want
you are not in pain or bondage,
life is beautiful

Susan Dudu Poem
With a single slap
It started with a single slap
Back then during courtship
And I vowed I was going to leave him
He begged so much it became embarrassing
“Baby I am sorry,” he pleaded
“I will never lift a finger to hit you again,” he vowed
His friends begged claiming it was work pressure
What could I do? I loved him so much
I went against promise to self
I took him back
That was my undoing
It happened again in the second month of marriage
We were sitting on the sofa in the living room
What we joked about, I cannot even remember
But he hit me so hard I started bleeding
I woke up on a hospital bed
I was so sore, one eye partly shut
He had given me the beating of my life.
I vowed this time I was going to leave
But what would people say?
Our marriage was just two months
My parents had spared no cost to give me a fairytale wedding
I was after all their princess
We still had cake from the wedding in our fridge!
So, continued my torture
My husband became my tormentor, he hit me at the slightest provocation.
Then came the last straw
I was eight months pregnant, slow from carrying the weight of two people
He came home drunk and hungry
He demanded I made him pounded yam
A very wicked request
Considering I had just made him some rice with the last bit of strength I had in me
Then the monster struck again
He beat me, oh he beat me black and blue, red and yellow
He beat me so bad
I lost the baby I so lovingly longed for
“Madam we are so sorry we couldn’t save the baby, it was so badly affected from the kicks to your stomach, you only barely survived,” said the doctor.
I cried so bitterly as my world came crashing
I had so many dreams for my baby
But they were cut short by his beastly father.
This time, I actually left
Not caring about anything or anyone
I could not bear to live with the one that murdered my son
Even before he saw the light of day
The one who snuffed his little life out of him
Before he even came to life
I left with a broken heart and shattered dreams
Mourning the son I will never know.

Susan Dudu Poem
since pregnancy taking care of me
taking me through childhood and adolescence
against all odds
then into adulthood
she is always there for me
through thick and thin guiding me
not letting go of her love for me
some times i don't deserve her love
some times of course our opinions differ
but in all these we still agree
because she is me
and i am her
she is me!
teaching me to walk and talk........she is my mother!

Susan Dudu Poem
i have known this lady
since i was a baby
she took care of me from the womb
not leading me to the tomb
all she gave me was love so pure
of that i am always sure
we do have our differences
but i love her all the same
through thick and thin she's been there
she is my personal angel
my own mother
she is like no other
she's always there when i need her
and i love her more than words can say

Susan Dudu Poem
YOU LEFT ME WITH DEMONS
I FIGHT EVERYDAY
PAINS I CANNOT SHARE
SCARS IN PLACES UNSEEN
YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MY PROTECTOR
BUT YOU TORTURED AND TORMENTED ME
YOU MAIMED ME
LEAVING ME WITH DEMONS
I FIGHT EVERYDAY
NOW I AM THIS CHILD
THAT IS LOST AND CONFUSED
LOOKING FOR LOVE IN IMPOSSIBLE PLACES
SEARCHING FOR YOU EVERYWHERE
HOW DO I LOSE THESE
DEMONS THAT I FIGHT DAY IN DAY OUT
HOW DO I FIND MY WAY BACK TO THE LIGHT?
I AM LOST AND BATTERED AND I DO NOT KNOW MY WAY BACK
BECAUSE OF THE DEMONS I FIGHT EVERYDAY
