Forever Roam

Into a silent valley we walk
Into a golden meadow as the birds talk
Into a wild unknown land
Into the middle of a marching band
Into the air filled with mist
Into a twirl with a twist
Into a bog consumed by mud
Into a battlefield spurted with blood
Into the ocean’s billowing foam
A world where we live forever and forever roam.

Your Soldier

Writing this letter
As I'm sitting in my company.
We're about to march out
To keep our country free.
Dear mother at home,
I love you.
Don't ever doubt
I do.
I miss you
Be safe and sound.
Love, your soldier
From a small town.
Talking to you on the phone
From thousands of miles away.
I can't bring myself to tell you
What I saw today.
Dear father in heaven,
Keep me safe and warm.
I know you watch over me
Help me out of this storm.
I miss you
You know I do.
Love, you soldier
Who'd be nothing without you.
As I'm sitting in this hole
You're all that's on my mind.
As I watch the battle rage
You're the peace that I can find.
Dear baby,
I love you.
I need you to know
That I do.
I miss you
I'll be home soon.
Love, your soldier
Who's the sun to your moon.
The plane ride has come
And the landing is smooth.
People are crying
As they welcome you.
Dear everyone,
I want you to know.
I fought my best
But now I have to go.
I love you all
And I miss you more.
Love, your soldier
Who is home from war.

A Crime of Passion

The blood on the knife gleamed in the moonlight
His hand shook as rage blinded his sight
The body at his feet steamed in the evening cold
A carpet beside it in which it would soon be rolled
What made him do it he couldn’t have said
All he knew now was that someone was dead
He remembered the scream in his ears
His face wet with fallen tears
A crime of love that had fallen apart
A crime committed that broke his heart
The love of his life had betrayed him he knew
He had the proof from which his anger grew
The pain he felt was too much to bear
As he stood and all he could do was stare
His wife was beautiful but now she was gone
He didn’t know if there was a way he could go on
So he raised the knife to his own heart
And plunged it forward hoping for a new start
Fallen in betrayal because of love
The new pair of spirits rose to the sky above
The police on the scene found the note
And all eyes let loose tears for what he had wrote
The man in the picture was his own brother
He said that he had never loved another
He was sorry for what he had to do
But above else he was sorry for the life he slew
His brother was there and his tears flowed
For the one person in his life he had never told
His brother would never hear him say the words
For now he flew high with the birds
“I love you,” he whispered to the sky
And his brother heard them from on high
In one second his brother he forgave
And then he rested comfortably in his grave.

Spring Is Finally Here

Each needle on the pine quivers
happily in the mysterious wind.
Clouds flutter across the great blue
sky with illusionary resemblances.
Birds chirp, "Come outside and sit awhile.
Spring is finally here!"
Bugs buzz through the sun-warmed
grass with each step.
Rabbits hop lazily to and fro with
their ears up and their eyes bright.
Brilliantly colored kites accumulate in
the voracious sky.
And the birds continue to sing,
"Spring is finally here."

Words Are Magic

I don't use spells or trickery
No deceit or honest lies.
For a spell is naught but words
And in the words is where the magic hides.

A great green valley
In the sunshine rays
Where rivers gurgle
And wind wisps play.

A sunset beach
Where birds call out
The water glistens
And children shout.

With you alone
Or more to come
In darkest night
Or brightest sun.

Words are the magic
Behind the spell.
When you know the words
You have the magic as well.

Heartbroken Warrior

You walk with your head held high, like nothing ever happened.
But I know that inside you cry, with pain, anguish, and fear.
Everyone knows what is going on, you ignore them and pace forward.
I watch carefully from beyond, the door, the clouds, the clover.
If it is me you morn, please I wish it over.
The more you cry the more my heart is torn, ripped, shredded, and broken.
A heartbroken warrior is not what you are, but what you think you should be.
If you look close I am never far, always watching, waiting, loving.
So please my warrior mend your heart, become a fearsome rider.
Go ahead and make a new start, with love, memories, and faith.
Find someone who can rekindle your fire, watch it burn brightly before you.
Only then can I fly higher, into the world beyond, above the clouds, and into the light.

Tale of a Monster and a Living Ancient

A time long last to a new beginning,
No one to condemn the last living being.
Fire sparks in its eyes
And it lays, as the other dies.
A mithril sword in the diamond cave,
The ancient being cannot be saved.
A new danger every single day,
He fights them off, keeping death at bay.
He flies by night, wings spread wide
No freedom to roam the skies by light.
Returning again to his forever home,
A brave knight slept from his mountain roam.
Seeing the monster, the beast roars
And the evil wakes, and the eagle soars.
A flash of heat and a sound of steel,
The ancient father had no time to reel.
He watched the monster as his fire died,
And the last dragon went for his last ride.

Distant Hunter

I am the stalker in the night
The hunter, the predator, the carnivore.

I am two eyes glowing bright
Frightening, malevolent, hungry.

I am the shadow outside your fire
Slinking, silent, unafraid.

I am here just look higher
In a tree, hidden by leaves, watching closely.

I am the jaguar
Always creeping, never sleeping, and one with the earth.

I Believe...

I believe in the soaring eagle,
the distant horizon,
the future goals,
the reality of failure,
the rising sun,
bringing a new day, without fail, always anticipated.

But if you think that I believe in
judging others, you don’t know me.

I believe in world peace,
I believe that good memories will save you,
I believe in freedom,
courage, defense, pride.

And I believe that a moment of peace
will eventually turn into an eternity.

Terror of the Dragon

A castle stands like a dark spear against the sky.
A ragged scream breaks the glass of silence rising very high.
A bright silhouette against the silken moon casts the countryside in fear.
A mighty golden dragon swoops down and snatches up a deer.
As it begins the upward sweeping towards the stars above,
A sudden twang and swishing turns its head down to the cove.
Within the trees an arrow flies and the beast swerves just in time.
The soldier cries and runs away towards the castle by the mine.
Fire sparks in the dragon’s eyes as it opens its mouth and the flames arise.
Towards the ground it turns its head and chars and smothers the countryside.
Across the rolling hills it spins a tale of terror and death.
Along the beautiful waterfall it awaits another wrath.
More terrible than a locust swarm its sweeps along the foothills.
Finally reaching the castle black and swarming it with chills.
Brave knights are sent in search of the being.
None shall return to present its head to the king.
When darkness falls it moves each night,
And does its best to remain in the fight.
It lives for long but although it tried,
The resilient beast has finally died
