Janitors Broom

the janitors' broom,
it sweeps every room,
under each desk,
cleaning up the mess,
it never complains,
leaving a clean environment for our brains,
this broom is on a mission,
without recognition...

Courtney

Some fragment of a memory
stems off into an abyss of pain,
you can't hide from it
when you're all alone with a glass
that looks empty,
green olive on a fancy toothpick
with some small red void of love
for you to seep into,
your ramblings are getting deeper
and we are your only listeners,
take another sip and be thankful
your memories are all that lasts.

Mouthful of You

2-Pac kissed me tonight,
just before I swallowed my thoughts,
I think he could taste them,
bits of anger and self pity,
sharp and unforgiving,
my saliva, his blood,
with an emotion too strong,
from my dripping red lips,
to a once warm puddle,
I doubt I'll see him again.

Sean

First my eyes,
Then my lips,
My shoulders,
My hands,
My legs,
My feet,
My roots snap and mounds of dirt turn over,
You pull me from the place I’ve grown into,
With only your eyes,
You look straight into me,
Missing everything on the outside,
One glance from you and I surrender,
I’m in love with your eyes.

Reunion

sitting in the green chair
where I haven't been in so long,
I've been far away
in a world where I feel so wrong,
vomiting near tombstones
and in the back of an explorer,
waking next to Joolie's closet
missing every class,
In this world where boys and girls
are the most destructive drugs,
and when you're really lonely
all you get are awkward hugs,
maybe, just maybe,
in the new fond comfort of the chair,
I'll find what I was looking for
all the time I was there.

Blue

She'll have cigarettes
burning in her apartment
like incense
On her kitchen floor
She'll have a vase
filled with gas station roses
Occasionally she'll tear
a few petals
for one of her rituals
She'll roll the
universe up in a
ball
and wear it around
her neck
She won't own
a single pair of
shoes
and her hair will
be the biggest mess
of braids
you've ever
seen
Her eyes are blue.

Joolie

The bread and butterflies
wake to taste your morning dew,
though innocent they seem
their intentions will not do,
each grabs a curly lock
and pulls you to their side,
laughs so small only flowers fathom
into the mud you slide,
not a tear escapes your eye
no, not a single one,
you sit and wait patiently
they no not what they've done,
a moon struck black book
rises from the goopy mud,
and all the bread and butterflies
they all turned into blood...

A Little More Perfect

What if I was a little thinner?
a little less frizzy?
maybe a little more frizzy?
What if I was a little more charming?
more intelligent?
more sane?
a little less forgiving?
no, maybe a little more?

What if my boobs were a little bigger?
What if I was a little sexier?
a little taller?
a little shorter?
a little more dark?
a little more cold?
a little more warm?
What if my eyes sparkled just a little bit more?
What if I used less eye liner?
What if?

Would it change a thing?

Maybe these tears would stop falling,
crawling from my eyes like blood clots that stain,
maybe my smiles would stop cracking my cheeks?

What if I scrubbed my face a little harder?
Would the tear stains lift?
would the cracks be filled?

What if I looked in the mirror one last time?
What if there was nothing left to fix?

Good Morning

I await the hour,
when you and I will collide,
where will all your minds
demons abide,
will you sweep them
under the rug
and glue it down,
will you nail their coffin
shut with a thousand
nails
then bury them deep
in this hollow ground,
push them in the closet
swallow the key,
just to prove you still
love me,
maybe I'll kiss you
for all the ways
you've changed,
take one last breath
I know you'll choke on this.

Poem In the Shower

I've fallen,
This is my coffin,
White and Porcelin,
Tears run down these half bent legs,
Everything I wont say is said without words,
I'll sink further,
And watch myself unravel,
until I swirl down the drain.
