Kaiden Harper Poem
I sit alone in my room every night, looking at the moon, appreciating its beauty, like many others, but as I listen, it's like there are words carried by the cool night breeze, they are quiet and faint but they are there “you don't belong here” they whisper. I know they're right, I open my window to listen closer, wanting to hear what the night has to say. I know i dont, this world has never been the right place for me, I'm a social outcast. I've never fit in. I've always been the quiet one in the class, the moon has always been the one thing that has never left me. I sit in the window waiting for more. “I can fix your problems.” it says, comforting. I sit on the window ledge, considering what it said, I have little to lose, so why not. “I don't think you can fix me, many people have tried but as you see, I'm still broken” the words leave my lips very easily, the words fall silent in the night, but i know it hears me. “I am not trying to fix you, I want to help you, come closer” Its words lure me into a sense of security, i lean out of the open window listening, feeling the sweet bitter feeling of the cold night. “What do you mean?” I ask, “come with me, and ill make it all go away” i lean closer, halfway out the open window, interested it the solution to fix everything, my mental health, the way i see myself, my trust issues, my abandonment issues, i want it to leave me, to drift away into the night.”where would we go” i want to take the offer, i want to know what it's like to not worry, can it really happen? “Somewhere you get to be yourself” I pause, "I've never been able to be myself” i say hesitantly, i get judged and harassed, could this really be the solution? The wind picks up but there's no response, I wait, I listen close, I lean closer. My grip on the window is firm but not enough, I slip and fall. I land heavy, the snow doing little to break the fall. “Youll be with me very soon, in a world where you have nothing to worry about” my vision is fading, im not scared, im clam even tho the pain it torture at this point, i can see blood in the snow. I close my eyes and let it consume me, I've never been scared of death, it welcomed me many times, i never took its offer, but tonight i will. I hear the wind once again as I look at the stars in the sky”welcome home my child” it whispers.
