splinters

they bury deep
too small to see
woven into memory

a quiet ache
a phantom touch
a scar that never fully shuts

they shape the way i brace for pain
the way i flinch, the way i stay
they shape the way i reach for warmth
yet fear the fire all the same

each splinter tells a story still
a mark of love, a wound, a will
some i hold and call my own
some i dig for
some have grown

pine wood wolves

i've come to meet the wolves
the ones who dream beneath the pines
not to beg or steal or borrow
but to seek peace of mind
to offer them this skin i'm in
the one i wear so thin
(i almost forget it's mine)
let them judge me by the tremble in my hands
not the stories i've sold
and if i be damned, then let me be damned
and not the mask i hold

axillary

she folds into the withering dusk
a bloom that knows when light's too much
petals drawn where words won't go
soft in silence, steeped in shadow
but even as the night drifts through
her roots hold strong, her colors true
and when morning comes to call her name
she'll open gently just the same

the loneliness of strays

the loneliest of nights,
the loneliest of days.
the loneliness of gods,
the loneliness of strays.

hollow harvest

seasons spin and silence starts
sowing sorrow in stubborn hearts
borrowed breath from broken ground
to this promise pulling me down
weeds whisper where we each walked away
wednesday’s wounds won’t wash away
calloused conscience carries on
till dawn

tell me tender truths tonight
though the harvest holds no light

faithful fingers fear the fall
sacred soil seasoned with salt
ghosts gather where gardens grew
without you

why do we wait when the world won’t wake
fighting for fruit that will never take
damn the drought, damn the doubt
planting prayers in parched ground

speaking straight to stubborn soil, sweat & strain for nothing gained
sowing seeds in sandy shame, seasons shift but stay the same
broken backs and bleeding hands, bury hopes in barren lands
faith follows fear through fields unknown, harvest heart now hollow stone
weathered will and weary way, walking where the wildflowers stray
tend and trust who’s tough and tight, tending through the troubled night
promised plots now poisoned plain, patience pressed, the pouring rain
damn the night, damn the day, damn the dreams that drift away

buried bones beneath belief
shattered stones, surrendered grief
maybe mercy makes its mark
in the spaces stark and dark

growing grace in graveled ground
where love’s lost but still found
morning mist meets my return
lessons learned from bridges burned

still I stand where seasons end

dispersion shores

i keep standing on these dispersion shores
where even the water seems to have forgotten your name
and then the fog rolls in
like it's still looking for someone it used to know

i keep thinking if i wait it out
the pieces will come back home
but they just keep floating farther

little whitecaps carrying off
bits of conversations i never had
girls who said "maybe next summer"
and meant never
the postcards i wrote but never mailed

the ocean doesn't apologize
it just keeps moving
erasing footprints
like they were never there

i threw my phone into the surf once
thought maybe if it drowned
the messages would stop coming
the ones that say "i'm fine"
when you know they're not
or the ones that don't say anything
at all
anymore

driving up the coast after that
windows down, radio stuck
on some station playing old ghosts
or maybe just static, doesn't matter
the highway signs blur
into promises nobody kept

dispersion shores, baby
that's where we always end up
everything spread thin across miles of nothing
i'm still here collecting broken shells
thinking if i glue enough of them together
maybe i'll remember what it felt like to be whole

you'll find me out here
walking the tideline at dawn
picking up sea glass like evidence
of something that used to matter
humming a half-remembered melody

yeah, dispersion shores
guess i'll keep standing here
till the water takes the rest
