Finley Dhar Poem
You really know
how to get to me, and tear
me o p e n.
You know my ticks,
my triggers, but,
surely, you,
of all people,
the one who bred me life and breath,
wouldn't do,
something so calculated.
Please,
don't hurt me,
I am-
fragile
and so are you.
It seems,
I am becoming you.
Or maybe you are becoming,
the product of
my actions.
And so inversed at crossroads,
I falter,
faced with, all my sins
that I can no longer remember.
If you can no longer recall,
those horrid sins,
then are you even fit to be on this planet,
and breathe the same air?
Maybe I'm the product of imagination,
but, still,
I would rather live a life of delusional heroism
in the face of you,
and pay for my crimes
where you can't see me.
If I am a flower,
then you,
are a drought,
and you are not there, to see
me and wilt die,
because I destroyed my own roots.

Finley Dhar Poem
You slash into my space,
armed with venom,
to poison me, the one,
you are supposed to love,
and protect.
But—
all you do, is inspire fear,
into me.
I like to
hide myself
away, from all the rest.
And you,
you attack me for this,
you yell, you scream, you cry.
Why,
Why,
Why,
would I ever want to be with
someone who loves me,
through everything,
but words.
I like to be alone, far
from you.
I cannot love someone who,
chooses only to love me,
when I make them happy;
when I do what they think is right;
when I am a mere lamb, following them.
For to be anything else with you,
is to deal with your pain,
that you couldn’t stand,
so you burn and burden mean.
Maybe I carry the flame, or maybe
im already—always?— was on fire
to begin with.
Still,
I cannot be with someone,
who loves me only,
when I make no wrong move.
For that is to burn,
at the expense of another;
blood is not thicker,
than what you cut it with.

Finley Dhar Poem
You’re gazing at me,
expecting something I won’t give.
Because I’d rather be,
with anyone else,
than be with you.
Truthfully, I’m never actually
doing what I say I am.
I make up invisible boxes to be
checked with even more
translucent marks,
all to evade your presence.
For all you have said, done,
and driven me to do,
and for all the parts of me you have attacked
I don’t think you actually want me.
I think you’d rather be,
with me when I’m dancing with
a stranger.
Polite, distant, friendly, but never too friendly.
Does this mean,
you want to be a stranger to me?
Don’t want to know all my secrets, plights, fears, aspirations?
You want a filter for roaring waterfall,
but, unfortunately, you’ve bitten the apple,
and already know,
all you hate about me.
But, if you ask me, most apples taste
rather nice.
nothing is added or subtracted;
what you get is what you get,

Finley Dhar Poem
They tell of the stars that burn,
beyond my gaze,
and all the galaxies
that churn on
paying no heed to me, and all my earthy plights.
But I don’t see
those blazing lights, for they shine beyond
my gaze, lightyears away.
For my problems are not weighted on
the scale that pertains to all of humanities issues,
but on my personal one, pertaining to the blip in time
I have experienced.
The whole point is that I don’t see every star,
the light pollution that is my years of life
is all i know
and know to feel.

Finley Dhar Poem
I saw a horse,
the other day,
walking on powerlines,
diving into the ocean,
drinking sea water.
It stood on the railway,
facing the train,
that barreled towards it.
I thought the horse,
so tired of defying limits,
would lay down and die
right then and there.
But it stepped onto a rainbow,
and rode into the sky.
Wouldn't you kill to be this horse?
Rising above it's seared
scars,
proving it's will to heavens,
so much they had let it in?
I realize humanity was a born a horse,
that it locked up in a stable,
to haul wagons
until it's back broke.

Finley Dhar Poem
I think it would be
so much better to be someone
else, not fighting to shine
half as hard.
Because I’m not even shining,
I’m just burning,
pummeling through the atmosphere.
My flesh is melting off my bones,
which are just charred as my soul.
But then I realize,
you are holding the matches.
And I would be so much happier,
without your
presence,
your blaze.
I’d rather be a blur in the lines
the push through more years
of this.

Finley Dhar Poem
Are you a stone?
Are you a brick wall?
You're the definition of unmoving pride.
You can't process a word I say,
you're unmoving in all regards.
You say I need to be adaptable; malleable,
when you; you are not.
You are unchanging and rigid and love to attack,
ignore.
Any issue I have with anything at all,
is an issue with my character.
You can't differentiate person from problem,
distress from personal flaw,
sadness from anger.
You; you need to be adaptable and malleable.
And, stop
attacking me,
over every little thing.
Just,
love me.

Finley Dhar Poem
I think I know,
that looking back, I will wished
I lived more.
I will wish I hadn’t sold
my soul away,
for praises and respect.
I will regret,
wasting these years.
Not by rotting my soul,
but by neglecting it,
in favor
of a future I don’t want,
and have never wanted.
To live in such a free nation,
touched and blessed by God,
I would feel trapped anywhere else,
including here.
I was made for the stars,
for the light, for the sun.
For the fields and trees and the blood,
for the pain and the regret and flesh,
the lamb, the slaughter, the cross.
To question my faith at every turn,
to burn my pearls over hungry flames.
I was never born to martyr,
I could never die for anything,
knowing I never once lived for anything
other than
.

Finley Dhar Poem
Barbed wire,
strapped round my organs,
tighten,
when I look in your eyes.
The blood pours inside of me,
so you can't see it.
I pray for holy water,
convince them to take me to it,
for you can't come,
or set foot,
in my haven,
if you think the place itself,
is vile.
So take me home! Take me home!
The place that I was promised, before
you all turned on me,
I truly thought,
you thought higher of me.
Feel my rage,
as I burn your home,
to the ground,
for intruding on mine.
What is the use,
in negotiating with a broken record?
I thought you knew me better,
I thought you all cherished me more,
than to leave my broken body at the bottom of the chasm,
after you pushed me.

Finley Dhar Poem
I'm not entirely sure,
what to say.
In response,
to your angry face.
But congrats, I guess,
you have broken me down, you have made me cry.
