Poetry is the lamp of wisdom

Poetry has flowed in my veins since writing in school
and I wanted to share my love like a bath in the pool

I would pen on paper to express the love from my heart
by creating a beautiful rhyme to give to my sweetheart

I would think so deep inside to present the words I used
singing those lovely praises of beauty and not abused

by writing alone gave to me so much enjoyment and peace
encouraged to follow wisdom by my father who is now deceased

even though he is not alive within my soul I silently share the pain
I continue to express my deep emotions of life to seek my gain

I learned that in moments of turmoil I must look for the light
to fight with all challenges and stand for what is right

Today with the world of poets at my side chasing after my dream
I can create a new poem like a bubble flowing in the stream.

Life is too precious

Each day the window
opens to a new dawn
bringing the treasures
of the mind
into the world
to remove the darkness
all around

The golden opportunity
to capture the clouds
lies in the choices
you make to move forward
with the waves of light
beaming from above

What it takes to overcome
fear is simply the love
flowing from the heart
where the reservoir of
silence shines bright

So often we forget
our dreams and get entangled
with the illusions
that misleads us
into the dark pathways
where its difficult
to escape

We must be mindful
of the truth and to seek
the wisdom that rise
above everything
To unfold the gifts of
nature and to be in
awareness of being
is the richness
of life

Potential of the mind

The willpower to remove
the mountain lies in the mind
there is not an impossibllity
that one can find
The borderless universe
gives us the opportunity
to channel new pathways
and move with the sun
We have tremendous
power create with time and run

We are born with a blank slate
to fill inside and paint
Whatever our hearts desire
and to inspire as a saint
Our dreams lead us to become
leaders of tomorrow
Why should we fade our thoughts
to live in sorrow

So many gurus have come
into this world and left a trail
Se have sufficient knowledge
to guide us and not fail
The weapon of the mind
can cause the forest to burn
Imagination is the gift of life
to have patience and learn

There wilñ never be another
opportunity to breathe success
Time never returns to reopen
the doorway we once could access

The candle of inspiration

Between the body and soul is the mind
between the mind and the body is intelligence
imagination to the mind brings
life into the world
and to introspect into the mind
adds to the fulfillment of the desire

life is a dream between birth and death
as the clouds over the mountain
lies between heaven and the floor below
the feet that persevere knowledge
will reach the edge of the shore
where the waves from the ocean
creates a cemetery on the sand

between knowledge and ignorance
between darkness and light
the opportunity exists to choose
between wrong and right
what is this body
without a soul but only an empty vessel
to leave behind
the winds of change will come
and the buds will spring again
to blossom with the wind

what is this soul without a body
can one prove it's a ghost
it's an illusion of the mind
to believe what is untrue
the magnet of inspiration
symbolizes truth
which is the source of energy
for life to flow
where beyond the horizon
when the sunset will disappear
above in the heaven
the soul will glow.

Labor day holiday

Tubal Uriah "Buzz" Butler fought for workers labored in the oil
to highlight the right of safety while in the night they quietly toil

Trinidad and Tobago celebrates his legacy with a public holiday
for his bravery and patriotic journey having paved the way

Every year the labor movements unite and march the street
that the ruling party will understand what demands they must meet

For the brave workers who lost their lives to have them recognized
the day is celebrated with everyone whom are all unionized

I listen to the whispers within

In the balcony close to the roof of the house
when in the moment of introspection I douse
to separate from the struggles each day
I listen to the whispers of silence and pray

To relax the mind and feel the wind as it passes by
I look through the attic to view the seamless blue sky
to imagine what the future holds that will comfort my heart
as to what destiny will enlighten me to follow the right path

This blessed little chamber contains all the books I read
to share the powerful inspiration I truly adore indeed
with the manuscripts and pieces of paper I use to write
I find the peace and happiness coming from the light

little passages and dialogues my father left behind
to comfort my darkness of pain and make pure my mind
a treasury of wisdom with images of a brilliant glow
that I can stream from life's fountain and allow to flow

No better throne can compare to where I sit
it take away all my undesired thoughts bit by bit
and with the whispering sound of the wind outside
it gives me the secret to the mystery that lies inside

the beautiful Arabian carpet spreads over the floor
anyone will see how attractive it is when they open the door
the weapon of faith takes away everything that I fear
as I remain n solitude with Mother Nature to share

Into the twilight through the midnight passage in the dark
my father who is not around visits me like a tiny spark
anyone who sits beside me and spills their hidden sorrow
will leave refreshed and face the world with a brighter tomorrow

Of all the rooms in the house I find comfort up here
that I have no reason to search for peace anywhere
For all the castles of gold this altar I will not replace
where I find the streams of happiness like no other place

This cushion wrapped bench cannot fold like a chair
yet it can take my weight with all the burden I share
before the sun will rise in the morning as the dewdrops leave
the vision of foresight will guide me by what I must believe

Should the chamber understand my emotion in the heart
this sacred space under this roof will never fall apart
to find wings for my words to fly I will continue to pen
the images that paints the shadows to heaven transcend

I remember my mother reminding me of my purpose of birth
that the wisdom within these walls will forever remain on earth
with her last breath she showered her blessings on this seat
for me to be successful with whatever I do before destiny I meet

In my quest for knowledge I come here to learn more and more
from the clouds of inspiration that knocks on my door
My father my mentor and friend I respect him to be a sage
who guides me in a dream to put my poetry into a page

while the stars moves in the sky above the clouds at night
I wait for the mountain of hope to bless me with the light
together me and my father are one in this little room
I do not have any fear of any darkness to be in doom

The memories of the past still comes awake after a dream
like a rainbow after a storm with all the colors beautifully beam
this chamber will carry all the books I wish to share
for the word everyone will understand and walk without fear

Our twin islands

Separated by the atlantic ocean
yet we are united under the same one law
The mountains on the northern range
act as a shield to dismiss any storm it meets
overlooking the caroni plains
the flat surface can be seen as a carpet
to connect between north and south

The caroni river cuts the island into two parts
as further down south the three sisters
still holds the footprints of Columbus
who remains a legend with his image
cast on the rocks sitting on the shore

What great richness nature has gifted us with
a beautiful pitch lake continuously growing
black gold from underneath the surface of the earth
The natural beauty of the island's shape
makes us unique to look at
from the center of the moon

The two volcanoes on the island
looks like chimneys from under the blue sky
with the poui trees blossoming in spring
you could tell from the golden flowers
how happy the birds and butterflies
enjoy the happiness of being in this space
Along the buccoo reef on the edge of the ocean
sits the colored weeds with patterns
amazing to see through the naked eyes

The arrows from the sugarcane fields
all colored white blends with the mist
just before dawn to make it look like snow
Like candlelights on every street
the dewdrops on the leaves
glitter with the glow from the moon

When the water from the mountain races
towards the valley below it looks like
sheets dye with yellow paint
between the trees and rows of sand
formed with giant hands unmatched
to any machine
From east to west the tall coconut trees
with its pure fruit matches with
the pebbles of stones sitting on the boundaries
all around

With the sister island carrying the crown
of all the jewels we are fortunate to share
we do not build castles for the world to see
but has an abundance of wealth
to feed every citizen by the inheritance
of our parents who toiled the estate
all but for free

The natural beauty of our islands
makes tourists from all over the world
wants to visit here even just for a glimpse
Imagine what it's like to see the corals
and the different species of fishes
united together and all the colorful
landscapes intertwined between
the sunbeams forming a mirror
of the sky upon the earth

With time and climate change
soon our original beauty will fade
and man in his own quest of greed
will remove the lovely space
that was occupied by the aboriginal
carib and arawaks who have all been
outnumbered by the immigrants
whom are moving fast
to create cities on their own.

The power of Faith

We are powerful creatures
wonderfully made from beams of sunlight
we have tremendous energy
to equip us with the fullest potential
wherever faith may lead us to go
to achieve our purpose of birth

Our breath gives us strength to live
to create whatever desires come to mind
that reality will turn into light

the world to us
is where all the challenges
stands for us to face
in victory or defeat

We are fortunate to be on earth
amongst the other creatures
that either crawl of have wings to fly
to look at the beauty of nature
and enjoy the freedom of living
without fear to be in
awareness of our being

Our imagination is the strength
we have to guide our feet
wherever time will lead us to achieve

To become enlightened by wisdom
and to reach the target of destiny
is the greatest achievement of human existence
that one could possibly dream

The flowers in the forest
and the fishes underneath the ocean
are two perfect examples of nature
which never cries of illness
but remains contented with fate

When thunder and lightnings strike
to form a storm in the ocean
the waves are the first to respond
and surrender in sacrifice
to go forward with time
in search of serenity
that will remove the turmoil on earth

Soon they will go to the burial ground
where they will surrender themselves on the shore

The darkness in the clouds
will cause the wind to roar
to remove the ignorance
created by the hands of men
who wants to disrupt the peace
we all enjoy on earth
yet we must understand
that the truth makes us inspired
to bring out the hidden treasures
which is from the gift of life

Towards our eternal freedom
we spend a whole lifetime
pursuing a dream to unfold the mystery
we wish to unfold
when the glow of light
will glitter in the minds
that are free and have the power
to become one with the infinite
who governs the universe

I can feel the pain

I can feel the pain
I can feel the pain
of the survivors left behind
from the tragedy of the boat
capsized taking with it
innocent lives
that will never return

No one could foretell that
it was their last journey
they would ever make

the river have swallowed
them all taking away the bitter
memories that will forever
remain with those whom are left

The nation sits mourning
for the grief and pain
endured by children
who were just about
to venture into the world
unknowingly that their
dream will be forfeited by death

Words are insufficient to express
the misery or to respond for a mishap
that was unexpected and unprepared for

Nature has nothing to do
with this disaster but who are to blame
and what compensation
can serve to repay for such a loss

I can hardly breathe except
to feel the silence passing
through my mind or to imagine
what fate have befallen
on those who were making a
journey to embrace their beloved

Deep in my veins my blood
runs cold as though death was
standing before my own eyes
waiting to take my last breath
that time will defeat
my purpose and cause me
to surrender my faith

Those unfound bodies
will sit forever in the ocean underneath
never to reach the grave

When the island was about to measure
success with the dawn of tremendous
natural wealth for everyone to enjoy
that dream of potential minds
failed to come alive
under the brilliant sunlight
which the flowers and birds
alone are fortunate to enjoy

My words of inspiration
have turned into poison
that no one will digest
but choose to remain in thirst
for this unpredicted mistake
more dangerous that the
damage left after a storm
even the light of my soul
have become dim
and my hands refuse
to write what is the truth.
