21 Bowls of Poetry

Twenty-one years, a simmering stew,
Of words, of dreams, of voices true.
Each line a spice, each verse a song,
A place where poets all belong.

From first faint rhyme in two thousand five,
To endless stanzas keeping art alive,
You stirred the soup with love and cheer,
And fed our hearts year after year.

We sip your broths of joy and pain,
We taste the sunshine, we taste the rain.
Each poem a spoonful, tender and bright,
A feast for souls, a spark of light.

So here’s to bowls, twenty-one times stirred,
To every whispered, spoken, written word.
May laughter, rhyme, and stories stay,
In PoetrySoup — forever, hooray!

The Language I Keep

today
i turn courage into morning
and set my fear on the shelf,
quiet, so it won’t follow me

the clock ticks its own story,
but i wait louder than its seconds,
because hope
doesn’t care about grammar

i fold my mistakes into yesterday
and breathe into tomorrow,
while the present
sneaks by barefoot

she holds sadness softly
they wear bravery like a coat
we become
words the dictionary forgot

i have many nevers
stacked like letters never sent
yet each never
can still bloom into maybe

language tries to shape me
but i twist it gently
until words
finally start to hear

i do not speak perfectly
i feel deeply
and that
is how i poet myself alive

The Weight of Injustice

Today, I learned
of a family broken
by hands that should protect.
A man, cruel and bitter,
beat the mother for daughters
three, then four.

The baby cried,
and he told her not to touch her child.
Threats of poison, of bullets, of death
hung over the quiet of their home.

How could a life be measured
by the shape of its body,
the promise of its heart?

Being a daughter is no curse
no mistake.
It is a gift, a blessing
from God,
from the universe.
A mother does not choose
it is the father who determines,
yet the world still asks
her to bear the blame.

I hate his cruelty,
his misuse of power,
his betrayal of humanity.
But I do not hate boys,
I do not hate men.
I hate injustice.
I hate violence.

We must speak.
We must protect.
We must honor every life,
especially the girls,
the daughters,
the mothers,
who deserve love, care, respect.

Let kindness guide us.
Let empathy lead us.
Let justice hold us
to our highest human calling.

Starlight

Sometimes I look up
just to remind myself
that not everything
has to be close
to feel real.

 Some things stay far,
quiet,
unreachable,

 and still
manage to shine.

Whispers of the Sea

Beneath the silver morning light,
The ocean hums a song of life,
Its waves whisper secrets of time,
A rhythm steady, pure, and rife.

Rivers trace the mountains’ skin,
Carrying stories to the sea,
Each drop a memory, a life,
A bridge from earth to infinity.

I stand on shores both near and far,
Feeling the pulse beneath my feet,
The tides remind me I am small,
Yet part of something vast, complete.

Coral gardens sway in secret dance,
Fishes dart like painted sparks,
Every creature, great or slight,
Adds a note to the ocean’s heart.

The sea sustains us, shields us, gives,
In its depths, inspiration flows,
It teaches patience, awe, and care,
And how respect for life grows.

So I paint, I draw, I create, I write,
To echo the ocean’s quiet call,
To share its beauty, fragile and bright,
And remind us: we are part of it all.

The Gift of Light

Christmas Day Special

Today, light chooses to stay.
It rests on open hands,
on shared bread,
on forgiveness spoken without fear.

The sky feels nearer,
as if hope stepped down quietly
and sat beside us.

Today is not about what we receive,
but what we dare to give —
time, warmth,
a softer version of ourselves.

Even the broken places shine,
because love does not avoid them.

On Christmas Day,
the world remembers
that peace is possible,
and kindness —
still alive.

The Night Before the Exam

The books lie open, quiet and still,
Pages whisper, you’ve learned the skill.
Every line you read, every note you made,
Is strength you gathered, brick by brick laid.

The exam is not fear, it’s a doorway bright,
A moment to show your inner light.
Breathe in courage, let worries rest,
You’ve tried your hardest — that’s your best.

Pens may shake, hearts may race,
But knowledge stays, it knows its place.
Walk in steady, head held high,
You are ready — give it a try.

And when it’s done, whatever the score,
You’ll still be someone meant for more.

Echoes of the Brave

Beneath a sky carved with fire and steel,
We walk where mountains dare not kneel.
The wind sings of battles long ago,
Of hearts that thundered, of souls that glow.

Rivers roar like the drums of war,
Carving paths through legend and lore.
Every stone remembers the steps of the bold,
Every shadow holds a story untold.

We rise with the sun, our spirits alight,
Facing the darkness, embracing the fight.
Stars guide us, their sparks in our veins,
Breaking the silence, shattering chains.

For courage is not in the absence of fear,
But in standing tall when danger is near.
We are echoes, we are flames,
Carving forever in destiny’s names.

So take your sword, your dreams, your might,
March through the storms and claim the night.
For in every heartbeat, in every brave cry,
Lives the power to soar, to fall, to fly.

The Great Pillow Escape

At night, I swear my bed’s alive,
it waits for darkness to arrive.
Because once I sleep, without a doubt,
the pillows start sneaking out.

I place them neatly, two by two,
like normal pillows always do.
But when I wake, it’s clear to see
they’ve run away from under me.
One is hiding near my feet,
one has vanished down the sheet.
One is halfway off the bed,
like it just gave up and fled.

The blanket twists into a rope,
my bedsheet folds with zero hope.
And somehow, every single night,
my mattress wins the pillow fight.

Then morning comes, the battle starts—
I rebuild the bed in broken parts.
I tuck, I fold, I smooth, I press...
and five seconds later? It’s a mess.
Making beds is heroic pain—
a daily fight I can’t explain.
But still I try, though it’s absurd...
because my pillow is a stubborn bird.

When the World Pauses for Light

The world is holding its breath,
as if even the stars
are waiting for something gentle to arrive.

Windows glow softer now,
streets hum with half-forgotten kindness,
and hearts —
even the tired ones —
learn how to pause.

Hope hangs like a whisper in the cold air,
not loud, not demanding,
just patient.

Somewhere between dusk and dawn,
dreams wrap themselves in silence,
and miracles practice being small.

Before Christmas,
we are not yet healed,
not yet whole —
but we are close enough to believe
that light remembers our names.
