Rage

Blood flows through these hands
Like currents during a storm
Lightning in their pulse

Sunburn

Like summer air, the heat will rise
Your color meets my sunburnt eyes
The water rushed against my thighs
You cover me

Where Love Meets

Ill go
where the match meets the flame
Where embers ignite
 the empty space that remains
Ill sit
 by the trembling door frame
Where dry bones weep
The words leave my charred tongue,
seeps through my teeth
"5 flares in still waters"
This is where love meets

As the Sun Leaves the Stage

The sun sets
like a solo performer
Her soft gaze
Captivates the audience
She never had to rehearse
She's done this before
Knows the script like the back of her hand
The silent director
leads his final scene—
The starlet takes her bow
She kisses the ground
All her color leaves
As the ending nears
The earth stands still
She hides backstage
Never hearing her applause

Open Wounds

We come seeking the sunlight that seeps within our skin.
We come time and time again, picking the wound, slow to bleed.
We come with nothing feeling real past the point of infection
We come open, gaping,
waiting to scar
First we bruise
to see the proof of our love in intricate colors
A way to feel
Some wounds need open air
to heal

Breadcrumbs

Retracing all my steps
Still looking for the last breadcrumb
Trying to find my way back
From who I have become
Look up at the daylight
Thinking it will leave a clue
Shine a light on all my mistakes,
On what I thought I knew
I think i wanna go home
But I cant remember why
All the rooms there are haunted
All my plans go awry
So I'll walk until my feet bleed,
"Leave your shoes at the door".
Red-clay colored head to bone
Always leave me looking for more

Tiny Dancer

Ash falls off the mantal
Into the carpet
Like a target
White to Grey
Just like my face

Loved you like a movie
Slow beginnings
Quicker endings
But every moment
Was worth the pace

You're in my bones
You're skin deep
Feels like a welcome home
But im the black sheep

I miss dancing under string lights
Elton John, tiny dancer in the night
You left me hanging like those lights
Surrendered all my rights
Just for a conversation or two
Ruined myself all over again
Just to aid and abbet you

Flashbacks of you
Feel like snow
in the middle of june
Out of place
But gone too soon

My love was a promise
I swore to keep
It was eternities long
And Oceans deep
Had to throw it all to sea
Just to forget me

My Heart is a Wasteland

My heart is a wasteland
Consuming all it holds
Lamenting, egregious, divine mine devours
Begging for flowers, bloom ensnared
in the midst of barren hands
My heart is a wasteland
Waiting for rainfall
over dry bones
A cold moonshine
illuminates desolate ruins—
what once led prosperity
My heart is a wasteland
Burning eternal flame
set ablaze by passerbys
Athirst for lush splendor
that once sheathed protection
How much more can one withstand
My heart is a wasteland!
All the love I have to give
dissolves into my pores,
crushing my bones
My heart is a wasteland

Displays of Affection

Unfortunate isn't it
That we only see a roses beauty
Once its been plucked away
Torn from it's roots
Shaven thorns
Simply there for
self preservation
Put up nicely in a bouquet
to look like the rest
But as for me,
I will kiss your thorns
I will leave you at home
You don't belong to me

Vega

A fire ignites in the skies
Infinity just out of reach
Altair weeps for Vega,
Somewhere you beseech me
I dread the day we greet
You'll tell me im wrong,
But even the loneliest stars
are placed where they belong
