Be Grateful For What You Have

F Is for Family standing together,
Through Thick and thin for now and forever.
There for each other no matter what,
This is more than some people have ever got.

A is for Appreciation - though usually not expressed,
We are often too involved in our own interests.
To show that you care never really takes too long,
We can show it by writing a wrong.

M stands for memories that we share,
The smiles, laughter and trouble if we dare.
This is the backbone to our family history,
Often dissolves any sad or unhappy mystery.

I is the Insight offered by the elders - knowing and wise,
They help young children to open their eyes.
They've been there before - know how it's started,
So listen carefully to the wisdom that is imparted.

L is the Love that is given - mostly unsaid,
This is what helps chase away insecurities and dread.
To tell your family you love them takes three little words,
Give a hug or kiss to keep them assured.

Y is the Youth - they carry the name through,
They'll remind the next generation of you.
Never withhold what you learn - it's better off shared,
Especially with the next generation who know you cared.

Poem For Baby

You are bringing a new beginning; like a warm shining light,
We are overjoyed - your arrival will make everything alright.
While you are growing and forming in to our little joy,
Your Daddy and I are waiting and planning for our little girl or boy.

We are looking forward to our years together,
We will cherish the time and keep the memories forever.
We will be here helping you learn to walk,
And we will be overjoyed to hear you talk.

Daddy and I want to tell you we love you and can't wait,
We hope to be the best parents for the ones we create.
You are our universe - the planets and the stars,
We cannot wait to hold you and show you you're ours.

Is This a Dream

You have shown me what it is like to be loved,
Given me a thousand and one more reasons to smile,
You are always so caring, honest and sweet,
I hop this lasts for a long, long while.

I want to treasure our time together as a happy memory,
To remember how I feel when I am in your arms,
Your touch so warm and kisses so sweet,
I think I fell for your smile and charms.

We have been together; for what feels like forever,
I'd try if I could to stop time from ticking away so fast,
I'd store away your kisses and remember the endless love,
Is this a dream I'm living? Will this really last?

War and Our World

Wars unite countries and people through anger and loss,
Love for their country and beliefs stronger than cooperation,
Children are using guns; becoming leaders of gangs,
Terror and anger ignite a mad passion for revenge.

As the western world unite in hope of stopping destruction,
Others are fighting for their freedom and for peace,
Blood is shed as lives are lost,
Our leaders say to unite and fight no matter what the cost.

We bring our children in to this world; hoping for peace and harmony,
Despite that it will never happen we still hope...
Hope that our world leaders will pause and reflect on all the damage,
That the bloodshed will stop and leave a world less savage.
