2nd step

Talk is cheap
Consequences costly
A smiling face
The warm wrap around glow
Sharing the past, twisted roads and dark corners
A shared moment, kindred spirit lights the fires
To think such a thing clears the grime off a haunted past
I clamber for more, old habits
The gift is in giving and it is not ours to take
This new life born of a lonely, cold heart
Where can such light be found
In another, a saviour
These broken hearts begin to mend
2 steps forward, light the path, there's work to be done

Day One

It's day 1
I have slept,
then the horror
burst forth from memory
Desperate fear dappled thoughts
Nothing stays, chaos reigns

Loved ones look on
No explanation or cause
Betrayal etched lines and comforting words
All is grey suffocation
Reality in rear view

Cold clinical options ahead
No hope on the horizon
A deep longing for oblivion
Lost in naked view
Finality beckons, out of reach

Forgiveness

It took a great many years
The tangled web of strings slacken
Gravity's pull lessens and a heartbeat slows
Bonds to sordid places decay, but not fast enough

A familiar voice reads old news
The pages bleed red from black ink
The stain fades slowly
Time heals all, but not fast enough

Joy interrupted, harken back with poisonous ferocity
Smiles fade and laughter sleeps
No love can blossom in tainted soil
The rain begins , but not fast enough

An ordinary day, green shoots reach the surface
Sunlight breaks the long dark , dawn has come
So subtle it could have passed you by
Just fast enough, a new dawn, a new day
