I Choose Myself

I am not responsible
for the ache that blooms in others
when I place my name
above their expectations.

I have spent lifetimes
softening my voice,
shrinking my needs,
turning myself into a bridge
everyone could cross
while I remained unseen.

No more.

I refuse to apologize
for setting boundaries
where I once offered blood.
I refuse to carry guilt
that was never mine to hold.

My choosing myself
is not cruelty—
it is survival.
It is the long-delayed breath
of a woman who learned
that love without self-respect
is only a slow disappearance.

If my growth unsettles you,
let it.
If my no feels heavy,
place it down—
it was never meant to live in my hands.

I am allowed
to protect my peace,
to bloom without permission,
to walk away from rooms
where my silence was preferred
over my truth.

I choose myself
not to wound the world,
but to finally heal
the woman I abandoned
for far too long.

And that—
that is not selfishness.
That is coming home.

Rise, Woman, Rise

She carries galaxies in her quiet breath,
and sunrise in the small curve of her smile.
The world may try to measure her in shadows,
but she was born of light—
ancient, steadfast, and wild.

She walks through storms with open hands,
collecting every drop of strength they bring.
Her footsteps soften mountains into pathways,
and her voice—
a trembling spark at first—
grows into a fearless wing.

Let no one tell her she is less than wonder.
Let no doubt dim the fire in her eyes.
For every time she falls,
she rises brighter—
a testament that courage
always finds its sky.

So rise, woman, rise—
not because the world asks it,
but because your spirit was made to soar.
And may you never forget:
there is power in your softness,
thunder in your heartbeat,
and a universe waiting
inside your door.

Silent Courage

lShe carries a quiet bravery
beneath the soft rise of her breath—
a tender storm the world never sees,
a flame she shields from the wind of days.

In the hush between her heartbeats,
she gathers the pieces of her hope,
threading them like dawnlight
through the shadows of her doubts.

She does not roar her strength aloud—
it lives in smaller miracles:
the way she rises after falling,
the way she dreams despite the scars,
the way she walks into tomorrow
with trembling steps
that still
move forward.

And if the world ever pauses
long enough to listen,
it will hear the quiet truth of her—
that courage does not always shout;
sometimes it is the soft,
steadfast whisper
that refuses
to disappear.

A City, A Love Story

Kolkata, my first and last breath,
A love letter to you, my heart's every depth.
In your streets, I found solace and pain,
A bittersweet symphony that still remains.

Your Ganges' waters, a reflection of my tears,
The city's nostalgia, my heart holds dear.
I miss the Park Street nights, the Maidan's green,
The memories of you, Kolkata, my heart can't glean.

Your rosogolla sweetness, still lingers on my tongue,
The pangs of separation, my heart can't be wrong.
You've been my first love, my last goodbye,
In your arms, I find solace, my heart's cry.

The city's chaos, my soul's calm,
The Durga Puja nights, my spirit's balm.
You've seen me break, you've seen me mend,
Kolkata, my love for you, will never end.

You're more than just a city, you're my home,
My support system, my heart's safe zone.
I'll carry you with me, wherever I roam,
Kolkata, my love for you, forever my own.

Too Heavy for Small Shoulders

Too Heavy for Small Shoulders

They rise before the sun has learned to smile,
bags of books like borrowed mountains on their backs,
dreams folded neatly between timetables
and the fear of falling behind.

At breakfast tables, silence studies harder than they do—
scores are served before love,
and questions sound like verdicts:
What rank? What future? What place in the world?

Classrooms become race tracks,
chalk dust thick with comparison.
A child is no longer a child,
but a number, a percentile,
a promise yet to prove its worth.

Society leans in, whispers loud:
Be brilliant. Be useful. Be fast.
There is no syllabus for breathing,
no exam on how to fail and stand again.

Parents, tired and hoping, mean no harm—
they sharpen their fears into expectations,
forgetting that pressure can crack diamonds
when applied too soon.

And the world waits with its cold arithmetic,
measuring value in salary slips and titles,
asking children to choose a lifetime
before they have learned who they are.

So anxiety learns to speak before confidence does,
sleepless nights pass every test,
and tears are hidden like contraband
in the pockets of young hearts.

Listen—
behind the marksheets and medals
are children asking softly, bravely:
Am I enough if I just exist?

Let us lighten their loads,
replace fear with faith,
teach them that worth is not earned—
it is born.

For a healthy mind
is the first success story,
and childhood
should never be the price
of the future.

The Smart, Bold Bride Who Doesn’t Ask for Permission

The Smart, Bold Bride Who Doesn’t Ask for Permission
Society has a long list of expectations for a bride.
She should be soft, silent, adjustable, and “proper.”
She should behave a certain way, dress a certain way, and live her life within invisible boundaries drawn by others.
But times have changed.
And so has the bride.
Today’s bride can be smart, bold, and fiercely independent. She knows who she is and what she wants. She is not scared of judgment, whispers, or raised eyebrows. She understands that marriage does not mean the end of freedom—it is simply a new chapter of life.
She may smoke when her mind feels heavy.
She may drink passionately while celebrating her victories.
Not because she is careless—but because she owns her choices.
Her habits do not define her character.
Her confidence does.
She respects traditions but refuses to be chained by them. She values family, love, and commitment, yet she does not lose herself to please society. She believes that being a good partner does not require sacrificing individuality.
This bride does not ask for approval.
She does not apologize for being real.
She does not pretend to fit into a mold that was never made for her.
She is educated, emotionally aware, and mentally strong. She understands boundaries, consent, equality, and self-worth. She knows that a woman can be graceful and rebellious, loving and bold, soft and powerful—at the same time.
Let society talk.
Let labels fly.
Because a smart, bold bride knows one truth:
Living authentically is far more important than living acceptably.
She is not here to impress the world.
She is here to live—fully, freely, and fearlessly.

Canticles of the Unbound

From riven ways and lent-for heaven’s vault
we clime on breath enwrit with slender ink,
each word a sworn avouchment ’gainst the dark,
each line a stout denial unto Lethe.

Hands erst in thrall do now the aether shape
with sigils forged of cinder, ash, and balm;
the orphan’s moan, the widow’s fervent cry,
lie twinn’d upon one consecrated leaf.

No tongue herein is beggared or despised—
the hush’d confession, clamant plea alike;
the scripture born of weal and wounded flesh
doth pace as peers in kingly even-stead.

We sing of marches loos’d from iron will,
of Right relearning how to quicken fair;
for Peace is not engender’d out of hush,
but sired by heedful ear to elder griefs.

This labour is no idle courtly sport,
nor dalliance of metre, wit, and breath—
it is a synod call’d by mortal hope,
where Mercy mounts the throne of trembling Fear.

Here, in these staves, the world recalls itself:
that Freedom waketh when all tales are weigh’d,
and Concord draweth first untroubled breath
when every soul long mute is bid to sing.

I Am Still Standing

I Am Still Standing

I was not born extraordinary…
just a simple girl with simple dreams.

But life…
had its own plans for me.

It didn’t always give me what I wanted—
instead, it gave me what I needed to grow.

I have loved… deeply.
Sometimes more than I should have.
And in that love, I found both happiness… and pain.

There were moments I broke—
quietly, silently…
where no one could see,
and no one could hear.

But somehow… I never stopped.
I kept walking.
Even when the road felt endless.

Life taught me lessons
I never asked for…
but today, I carry them like strength.

I am not perfect.
I have made mistakes.
I have lost parts of myself along the way.

But I am still here.

As a woman…
as a mother…
as someone who still believes in tomorrow.

My daughter…
she is my heart walking outside my body.
In her, I see hope.
In her, I see a future brighter than my past.

If I could give her anything,
it wouldn’t be a perfect life…
but the strength to face an imperfect one.

Because that…
is what truly makes us strong.

Today, I don’t wish for an easy life.
I wish for peace.
For understanding.
For moments that feel real and meaningful.

My story is not over.
It is still being written…
with every choice, every fall, every rise.

And maybe…
that’s the beauty of it.

Not perfection—
but persistence.

Not a perfect ending—
but a story that never truly ends.
