Broken Pieces

Walking slowly in utter dark wholly stripped and laid bare
Tears running down my face and a tightening in the air
Heart screaming a deafening silent desperate prayer
Carrying the broken pieces of a life full of ware

Abruptly piercing the sea of black was a beam of light
Silhouetting a tall bearded man who was twice my height
Piercing flame-filled yet loving tender eyes burning so bright
The Son of God had appeared before me all dressed in white

Laying the pieces at his feet eyes swelling turning pink
Barely uttering "I'm broken" as I felt my soul shrink
Chuckling the Son of God grabbed all the fragments with a wink
Little one you are not broken this is not what you think

Purposely placing pieces on the floor with flair and glee
Forming a vibrant mosaic of color and of me
Completing his masterpiece he motioned to come and see
With a loving embrace he whispered "Nothing but beauty!"

The Knight

A lone knight slowly trudges across the snow-covered land
Shooting pain raced down his left arm, for nothing went as planned
Blood poured from a large gash on his leg that had expanded
Winning yet broken, he wished for a death that had felt grand

Approaching his stronghold, choking thick black smoke filled the air
Dancing across the Barbican were wild red orange flares
Realizing they marched not to war, but into a snare
Quickening his pace for there was not a moment to spare

Arriving to find nothing but death inside the fort’s walls
Wine colored land told of the violent fight for the fall
Fighting back tears, he wore each slain’s memory as a shawl
Vowing before God he will avenge the deaths of them all

Crashing loud noise informed the knight that he was not alone
Pushing aside the pain, he moved swiftly from stone to stone
Seeing his foe, drawing his sword, he soon would stand alone
Praying, he charged for the enemy’s woven fate was sewn

Tunnel

Walking down a long and dark tunnel with no end in sight
Crying, looking for just one drop of hope out of my plight
Trying only to breathe while sinking in the dark’s deep might
Suddenly burst the simple beauty of a single light

Quickening my step thinking there was salvation to claim
Moving yet faster and faster with laser focused aim
Salivating at the coming freedom from long held shame
Broken finding the light was a torch with a single Flame

Walking and weeping as there appeared a very small glow
Emerging a crowd beckoning that the way out to know
Knowing, having come from there, it was not the way to go
Heart tearing as this false hope was merely men full of woe

Slowing my step as hope was fading when then came a sound
Deafening growl echoed filling my heart shaking the ground
Blazing light broke the dark illuminating all around
Deeply saddened for it was train whizzing past darkness bound

Weeping and fully broken I stopped falling on my face
Missing the appearing brightest of lights filling this place
Feeling the Son of God lifting in a loving embrace
Taking my hand, He led me out of darkness with His grace

Rise

Rise for there is a stirring and a calling in the air
Feeling Divinely touched in a moment real and rare
Flooding holiness making every heart and soul aware
Proclaiming to all that this is an answer to prayer

Rise for the Spirit is declaring it is time to wake
Slumbering no more for the battlefield is ours to take
Anointing poured out so thick every soul quivers and quakes
Rallying we march out for the enemy’s camp to break

Rise for Jesus the Christ is standing at the right hand throne
Singing fills the air in a powerfully joyful tone
Forcing the foes to flee as the banner of love is flown
Pushing ever forward for to us victory is known

Rise for God the father is calling to take it all back
Rescuing from the pit those whose heart and soul have turned black
Restoring all whose faith have fallen to despair and lack
Establishing his kingdom as the final great love act

Lord May I

Pontius Pilate facing Jesus questioned what is true.
The answer stood in front of him not a what but a who.
But a breath away from perfect truth if only he knew.
Lord may I never be so blinded that I miss you too.

One man hung on a cross finger tips from the almighty.
Salvation within his grasp but too proud to clearly see.
Instead hurling insults for a fleeting moment of glee.
Lord may I never be so proud I fail to bend the knee.

Jealous leaders plotted to extinguish God's holy light.
Foolishly loving darkness acting like tombs washed in white.
Eyes so deceived they could not see the dire of their own plight.
Lord may I never be so fooled I walk by my own sight.

One woman abounding with love anointed with weeping.
With expensive alabaster perfume kept on pouring.
Overcome with thankfulness she just kept his feet washing.
Lord may I be like her with thanks and love overflowing.

God Whispered

God whispered and I heard his voice calling to love him more
Promising to make time after completing all my chores
Intending to obey life pulling with violent roar
Losing slowly unaware of falling in this soul war

God whispered and I thought I heard his voice calling to me
Planning family work and life as time happens to flee
Vowing to fit God in when things slow down and I am free
Sliding away as for my soul God continues to plea

God whispered and I faintly felt like I had heard a sound
Racing faster and gaining less and less on life’s playground
Achieving hollow victories as starts another round
Feeling only broken and beaten and completely bound

God whispered and sadly I didn’t even notice at all
Working so hard to build life only to have missed it all
Crowding time with worldly things and goals had been the downfall
Crying from an empty soul finally to God I call

The Pit

In a deep pit I awake and wonder how I got here
Scanning every blurring memory but nothing is clear
Fighting the impressing hysteria and gripping fear
Failing to see a way out as I shed more than a tear

In a dark pit I claw the walls searching for a way free
Trying every idea that had ever come to me
Hoping against hope that one will open a path to flee
Sinking deeper in despair as there is none that I see

In a hushed pit I hollered out for help from anyone
Searching the opening rim for rescue but I found none
Wishing that someone left a single bullet and a gun
Crying falling deeper with the dread feeling I am done

In a cold pit I clasped my hands turning to God to pray
Breaking through the gloomy sky was a glimmering light ray
Reaching out toward me the Son spoke out I am the way
Freeing He took me into the dawn of a brand new day

Everything Changed

Everything was bleak and gloomy and cold and full of fear
Fighting dark forces driving thoughts that I don’t belong here
Struggling with if my departure will help those I hold dear
Piercing my soul breaking inside I shed rivers of tears

Everything was crushing searching for one sliver of light
Struggling to find even a glimmer that would end this plight
Giving every single ounce of strength to press on and fight
Crying desperately dropping to my knees in the night

Everything became silent with a hushed awe in the air
Pulsating between calm and wonder all has become clear
Invading emotions of gentle love lay my heart bare
Rushing like a mighty wind the Son of God has come near

Everything changed as He drove all the vile darkness away
Breathing vibrant life into a hopeless heart full of grey
Remolding what was broken like a potter to the clay
Helping me to dance like it was spring on a winter's day

Love Is

Love is patient like a rainbow waits for a rainy day
Love is kind like the dew that gently on the dry ground lays
Love is trusting like gravity keeps from going astray
Love is humble like grass stomped with never a gripe to weigh

Love is timid like a margay that hides in leaves of trees
Love is proper like a mourning dove greets the sun with glee
Love is selfless like a dolphin risks to guide to safety
Love is soothing like a manatee gliding through the sea

Love is merciful like a spouse forgiving an affair
Love is pure like one sacrificing for a life to spare
Love is truth like two placed in a garden with all laid bare
Love is perfect like a child’s nightly innocent prayer

Love bears all like one man suffering and nailed to a cross
Love endures all like the Son taking humanity's dross
Love believes all like the Father did not count us a loss
Love hopes all like the Spirit who on us His name emboss
