A single word

It started with a single word- then came another five…
When I got to my second line, I nearly began to cry.
Chapter two developed in an unsuspected way, and the characters began to grow a little more each day.
The plot began to thicken by the middle of chapter three, and ‘he said- she said- who did what?’ was now a mystery.
By the end of chapter four, somebody will likely die and someone else will fall in love by the middle of chapter five.
Chapter six begins with the sound of wedding bells, and they’ll probably have a baby if chapter seven goes well.
Chapter eight needs more excitement to keep the story strong.
Maybe between nine and ten someone new will come along.
A wondering eye in chapter eleven ignites a love affair and chapter twelve will begin with a marriage in despair.
Thirteen and fourteen will hold together the threads of a broken heart, but in chapter fifteen they will finally decide they cannot be apart.
Sixteen will rekindle passion. Seventeen a vengeful hate.
And in the beginning of chapter eighteen someone will finally meet their fate.
Chapter nineteen will be the greatest finale ever heard.
And chapter twenty will end the journey that started with a single word.

Share

When life seems overwhelming and your thoughts begin to stir…
When the future you once saw becomes a distant blur.
When you have a thousand questions and all you ask is “Why?”
When the answers to those questions make you want to cry.
When your heart feels heavy and the weight’s too much to bear,
Find the strength in your feelings, come to me, and share
The overwhelming times in life that makes your thoughts stir,
And I’ll help you reach your destination somewhere in the blur.
I’ll try to help you find the answers and hold you when you cry.
I’ll help you discover the reasons to all those questions “why?”
I’ll try to carry the extra weight that seems too much to bear,
And I’ll show how much I love you in the feelings that we share.

My last confession

Wings spread before me. Eyes to the ground.
Clouds drifting by, for I am Heaven bound.
I stood before the Heavenly Father, “Come forth,” I heard Him say. “I’ve been waiting for you child. This is your judgment day.”
His radiance was blinding, His presence calm but strong. I know He’s seen everything I’ve done. He’s known all along.
“As you stand before Me child, on your final day, is there something on your mind, something you’d like to say?”
My eyes began to fill with tears; my heart began to ache. I shivered with the very thought of
revealing my mistakes. I wasn’t nailed to a cross, and my hands did not bleed. I was not pure
of heart when asking in times of need. I did not wear a crown of thorns and my feet bare no
holes. Now I stand before my father, confessing my very soul.
“Father,” I whispered, “I’ve sinned in my life. I’ve done things I know I shouldn’t, things I know were not right. I’ve loved when I shouldn’t have. I’ve tried and given up. I’ve prayed
occasionally, when my life got tough. I’ve turned my back on strangers. I’ve turned away from my friends. Now I think of all I would change if I could try again.”
I lowered my eyes wiping the tears from my cheek. I listened with an
addled ear as the Lord began to speak.
“You stand before me confessing all your sins, and asking for another chance to do it all again? I did not expect you to be perfect and what you must understand is all you had to give was love, to become a worthy man. Don’t turn on others, for I’ve not turned on you. Seek My word when times are tough and that will see you through. Be the hand to lift up others when they are in need, and I’ll send the rains of progression to wash them if they bleed. Speak kindly to others or the crown you may wear will not be that of thorns but of a fool that does not care. Take My words to heart and let My gospel be a lesson so that your first words to Me won’t be your last confession.

Unending

It's a love unending, a feeling I cannot deny…
It's a love unspoken told in the face of a lie.

Yet, it's the truest love I have ever known…
this unexplainable emotion that between us has grown.

It's a love of confusion, this feeling I must hide,
and my tears show my weakness as this feeling grows inside.

I cannot be with you, yet I cannot bear to be apart,
and time has become my greatest pain, every second breaks my heart.

I'm living with a memory, holding only a glimpse of the past.
And I've surrendered my soul to a passion that I cannot have.

I've found comfort in a touch that I have never felt,
embracing a feeling of a desire that I have never held.

If I let reality slip away, I can hide with you in my dreams,
and we can finally be together, no matter how wrong it seems.

I'll lay deep in your arms, and let life slip away,
and as the shades of night turn into another day,

I'll hide deep in your thoughts and these feelings that we share,
will never have to go away, even if they were never there.

Almost

Almost:
It's almost everything,
It's almost nothing at all.
It almost catches you right before you fall.
It almost feels so right – right before you know it's wrong.
It's almost everything; it's almost nothing at all.
It almost feels like the first time as you begin counting up all the days…
It almost keeps you from saying the things you promised never to say.
It almost gives you enough reason to never leave because;
deep through all the pain, you know it was almost love.
It almost wiped away the tears that no one ever saw fall, because to you, it was everything that turned out to be nothing at all.
All of your dreams almost came true, just before you woke up and realized what you felt was almost love.
You almost held forever all the things you treasure most.
To you, it was finally love.
Well… almost.

Inside a Writer's mind

If you’ve ever wondered where you might find,
the answers to the endless questions sought over time.
The sense to the insanity, the radical of the norm…
the settling waves of frustration, the calming of the storm.
Deep beneath the layers of what most don’t see,
are the answers to those endless questions… beyond reality.
There is a world in a different color... the shades some may never find.
Lighting the world of imagination inside a writer’s mind.
If you look passed the confines of discretion,
you’ll see more than black and white.
You’ll discover the shades of expression I share when I write.
Though some may never see the colors this poem is trying to instill.
I am without any doubt
that a writer will.

The things left unsaid

You didn't say goodbye when you walked out the door.

You didn't say you didn't love me anymore.

You didn't tell me what was going through your head.

I guess you thought it was better to leave some things unsaid.

You didn't say there was someone else on your mind.

You didn't say that I was just a waste of time.

You didn't tell me before you decided to go,
that there were some things you didn't want me to know.

So, I won't tell you that all I do is cry.

I won't tell you I miss you more as each day passes by.

I won't tell you that I wish I were the one instead,
to hold you close and whisper softly all those things left unsaid.

Endless Journey

It's an endless journey to find love and its meaning…
A promised destination that may never come true.
I thought my direction was on the right path,
until my direction brought me to you.
The distance between your heart and where I'm standing, is the same distance from here to the moon.
And, that promise I made I have just broken,
and love and its meaning are broken, too.
When I think of love, it makes me wonder
why I ever tried so hard
to reach the distance from where I'm standing
to somewhere in your heart.
Yes, I've forgotten the meaning of love,
and the moon is still so far away.
But, if every journey begins with a footstep,
then I'll reach the moon someday.

It's an endless journey to find love and its meaning…

I stopped loving you

I thought our love was unending, I thought I’d never deny the feelings that grow stronger as each day passes by.
I thought I knew exactly what was going through your head, and perhaps it would have been better to leave some things unsaid.
I thought this was an unending journey to a better life somewhere, and that we would grow stronger with all the feelings that we share.
I thought I held all the things that I treasure most, and there would be no more room for the word almost.
But, as the tears burn my cheeks and I sit down to cry, I know that you love me less as each day passes by.
This may be my last confession, and somehow, I already know that I must pick up the broken pieces and somehow let you go.
Why can’t this be perfect, why is it so hard to understand, the human nature that grows between a woman and a man?
If love is truly intended for those who seek it out, then I’ll always be lost in the shadow of a doubt.
I cannot take the pain, for I deserve it even less, and I never took our love in vain and I really tried my best.
You’ll probably never read these words because I lost sound long ago, and I must save my broken heart before I lose my soul.
But, if you ever care to hear what I have to say, from my lips to your addled ear,
I stopped loving you today.

Like Loving You

It's a circle of confusion; it's the path long and dark.

It's trying to complete the puzzle that's missing the biggest part.

It's the flower without petals, wondrous yet left behind.

It's a world of imagination that comes from nobody's mind.

It's a lie that made me feel better, though I know it'll never be true.

I guess you could say this also the way I feel about loving you.

I'm often in a world of confusion, walking that path all alone,
and I know without that single piece, that puzzle will never be done.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is hate and scorn,
and those petals that once grew here are now but bitter thorns.

So, tell me another lie but say it honestly,
and whisper how you really feel about loving me.
