Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
Hiding everything there was to say
spent ashes in a pile of the day
intentions inhaled and exhaled away
unspoken words of love going up in smoke.

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
Sun's swimming low
diamonds in the waves
heart out with the tide
lost between a mountain and a molehill
Chasing the night
sky's got no stars
moon hiding high
trying to outrun what's been done
tires spinning on gravel roads
the engine roars
filling the space between
dead and dying

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
Death wears blue
Hollowed eyes
Sleepy grin
Twisted mouth
Smiled at me
As her voice
In my dreams
Between his rattle
And her breath
Silently screams
You're killing me

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
Call me deadly nightshade
Poison in my blood
Anger sparks cruel words
Inspired desperate actions
That cannot be undone
The weapon my tongue
Bloodsports for the soul

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
The thundering pain
The fills my bones
Skin stretched right
A razor blade
Drags out
Never digs in
Can never quite reach
The itch within

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
Leather hide-wild eye
What should I do
Blackened mind
Borrowed time
Trading pieces
Of myself
For thirty silver coins

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
pink violet sky
scared hearts and horses
thunder and run
Over the hills
chasing falling stars
twisted and spun
Blacker than midnight
porch light on
returning to what I have done

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
what was I supposed to do
Mom said no
She didn't believe me
Mom said no
each time I told them
Mom said no
I tried all the ways to get you to stay
porch night calls
Mom said no
to get them to see
that you needed help-
more than leaning on me
Mom said no
Just a joke you said
that your brother would tie you to the bed
father-brother-you
I tried to speak but no one cared
if a troubled kid is in despair
a friendship bracelet
your treasured boon
our souls entwined, I abandoned you
Mom said no
that awkward pause
what could I do
as you stood by the door
sunk in yourself
as you did on the floor
Mom said no
a soft request
the crushing weight
"can I stay the night"
Mom said no

Kayleigh Bathurst Poem
the weight of a life
between a feather and a soul
the weight of life
two lithium batteries
920 grams
