A Rambling Confession of Faith

I believe because it makes sense to me, even though I don’t understand.

It seems so much more reasonable somehow to be part of a bigger plan.

The infinite complexity, the strangest twist of fate

Only when I see God underneath, is it something to which I can relate.

At times, He seems so far away, a forbidding force of reckoning

Other times I hear his small, still voice with gentle comfort, beckoning

Through endless years in countless ways

Some have been punished, some have been saved.

Good men have trusted and changed the world

Evil man have fallen and been made absurd.

Though I cry out with tearful plea

To see how it could ever be

That the Lord, who sent his Son to save

Still lets evil misbehave

How in His name so many lie

And for His sake so many die.

The complex gift You gave to man

To facilitate a master plan

That we can choose to love and serve

That one day we we earn what we deserve

In our time upon this earth

From the moment of our birth

The path before us is one of choice

We determine how we use our voice

Our time our skills

Our wins, our fails

Perhaps one day by his grace

I will see Him face-to-face

And all I wonder will be known

Or perhaps, instead I will have grown

To trust that trust is all I need

In the end, He will succeed

I just need to do my part

So each day I make a brand new start

A Puzzlement

Can you

Could you

Solve this conundrum

Decipher this dilemma

Troubling me?

How do you find

What seems lost forever

How do you seek

What is no longer found?

What do you call that which

Has forgotten its name

How do you point fingers

When we are all to blame?

I look up at the sky

Glimpsing nothing but clouds

Though my eyes search for a silver lining

How can it feel so bitterly cold

Though I see that the sun is shining

An elusive enigma

A problem perplexing

A quandary quite sigma

And truly quite vexing

A Gordian knot with no simple solution

No way to escape this mental pollution

Perhaps in the face of a futile endeavor

I will remain in this labyrinth

Trapped here forever

Or perhaps this is only a passing phase

I will recover, I will amaze

Life is too rich to be squandered away

I will rise to fight another day.

Hanging on

Hanging on

By a thread

Trying to remember

What to believe

When hope is gone

And only dread remains

You strike a match

And let it burn

The candle flickers at both ends

For any respite the heart still yearns

Before the darkness again descends

Striving

Straining

Stumbling

Falling

She has forgotten how to fly

Forgotten how to try

Forgotten how to cry

Her eyes at last are dry

And finally

On bended knee

With hopeless heart

She tries to see

A better way

An brand new start

For former lies

She stands apart

And to her feet

She again will rise

Once again will come alive

She knows what it is to survive

She will never let it go.
