Candle

Flames flickered as the candle’s light
Touched the chilling breath of night
Shadows danced around with no sound
Bottle of ink filled with nightshade
Sleeps under the moonlight
A quill soft as a dream is held by a figure half immersed in darkness
Waiting for the elixir of thoughts
As the clock struck twelve
With great haste the figure dips the
quill in the nightshade
And jotted something on a piece of paper
Under the candle’s light words are born out
Oh! Candle tell me how many people have
written history under your might

Lonely Streets

The streets were bustling with people.
out of curiosity my ears tried to catch some noise
  Alas,
All it heard was pure silence.
There were no chirping of the birds.
There were no barking of the dogs.
There were no sound of people chattering & quarrelling.
Just .....................my thoughts & only my thoughts

Warmth

I laid down my stone cold head
boiling with thoughts on my mother's lap.
The warmth of the lap touched my heart and soul
easing my troubled psyche.
I slept on that warmth
with great comfort like a baby

Tears

The clouds have spread across the sky like a fluffy blanket.
Gloomy and sad, the clouds are filled with heavy despair, slowing them down.
One drop... two drop...
A downpour broke out from the gloomy clouds.
One might wonder, is this rain,
or tears from the gloomy clouds?

Grief

“What is Grief?” asked my soul.
I didn’t know the answer to this riddle,
So, I went on a quest.
Some said it’s like “ink drenching the paper.”
Some said it’s like “a cat catching a mouse.”
Some said it’s the emptiness of the soul.
My mind twirled and did a back flip.
Then I saw the rain clouds bringing gloominess to the earth.
I uttered some words, and they got lost in the wind.
“Grief is like gloomy clouds after the rain; it stays for some time, but sunshine will touch the earth sooner or later.”

Coin

On a moonless night riding back from my tired job
I opened my wallet on the bus
Giving the conductor a few bucks
The conductor gave me a note and a coin
I carefully placed the note in my wallet
As it was time for the coin to join the fate of the note
The coin slipped away through my careless fingers
Into the darkness of the bus floor

I searched the floor for the coin
All i saw was nothingness
The fellow sitting next to me shone light from his smartphone towards the metal floor
With that light i looked for the coin to no avail
I asked my fellow passenger before me for the coin
They looked for it in vain
Then came the word of defeat from their mouth

With concern on my face i asked the passengers behind me
They too showed the white flag in couple of seconds
I sat there for sometime so people may dismount the blue chariot with four wheels
As time passed by, i was restless

When the fellow next to me left the seat
I rose up and checked the back of the blue chariot
The conductor saw my anxious searching
And asked me what was the matter
I said in a low voice, “I lost a coin.”

Then i continued my quest for the coin
While i was on my quest
The conductor came to me and took out a coin from his conductor’s bag
And placed it in my palm with a small smile
At that moment my mind was playing a tug of war to whether accept the coin or not
The next second i accepted it with my heart
At that moment i was blessed with kindness by the world
