The echo returns not

Hello…
HELLO?

Nothing.
Silence.
The absence of sound.

Shhh…
I command my body to stay still, to obey, to shrink into the silence.
Rigid.
Unmoved.

It might come back—

SNAP!

Screeches from the winged night guards above slice through the air.
A sudden rush of wind frantically whispers its secrets to the trees.

The stars and moon blink in my wake, and I cry.
I cry out, but their light does not reply.

Did I even speak?
Did I even call?
Maybe the silence is mine.

I long for a response—an answer—
But at what cost?

What if it finds me?
What if it already has—
What if—
 it never left?

No. No, I won’t think about that.

But the silence is shifting, stretching, thickening.
It lingers.
It shifts.
It grows.
It listens.

I can't be trapped here with only myself.
Not when the silence is listening.
Not when it breathes.

I will let the silence take me.

Going.
Going.
Gone.

The echo will not return.
Because the echo never was.
Because I never was
Because—

Reflections of the Past, Visions of the Future

Back then,
I was so gullible,
Naïve,
I didn’t know any better
But strangely…
I was at peace
I did what i was told
I didn't step out of line
And life worked out just fine

But now with all the work and expectations
I tremble under the weight of it all
I realized too late
I wasn't personally convicted early.
While others know what their doing and how to get there,
I stand here, knowing my destination but
Having no inkling on how to get there.

I wish my life would skid to a halt.

But life just rushes on
Time just keeps on moving
And the memories of all those years ago
Begin to fade…

I move on.

Heart HEAD

She hurt me
So don’t try to convince me that
She was a genuine friend
Because at the end of the day
my heart twists in anguish
And I’m not going to sugar coat it,
I’m the one that cut her off
I have to remind myself,
No one can be trusted
And nothing you say will make me believe
Everyone deserves a second chance
Because no matter what
People will always let me down
And I'm in no position to believe that
if I extend my trust it won’t be broken
Because whenever I want to make friends I think
Is friendship even worth it?

(Now read it backwards)

Some things shatter, some things bloom

Crushed.
Dust chokes the air
And encircles the vicinity

Burnt.
Charred and battered.
A blackened stump,
The remains of what once was alive.

Hacked to pieces.
Still, lifeless—
Left to die

Will you still bloom?
Will you rise from the ruins,
Brush off the kiss of death?
Will you cling on to the fact that—
You still breathe?

Get up.
They crushed you.
They burnt you—
Tried to turn you to ash,
Hacked you to pieces,
But still—you stand.

Stand tall.
Raise that head high.
You overcame what no man ever did—
A living testimony.

Narrowly escaping your own death
You fought—
You fought the obstacles, the trials, the stones meant to hurt you

And yet—you bloomed.
