Sanctuary

A gentle breeze composed a rhythmic ballad
that danced throughout the lavish branches and
bountiful terrain of nature's divine savanna

A melodic weeping from a nearby willow
serenaded the new dawn like a morning lullaby

Abundant blades of amber and green
adorned the grassy knoll
each stalk aligned like perfect little soldiers
standing guard over their precious mother earth

Perched high upon the timber angelic wings of birds that sing
embellished the leafy branches
some preaching to a higher cause
while others proudly rested on their laurels

A candescent sky illuminates a flowing stream
Transforming the water into a pallet of extraordinary colors

Serenity is found in the dawn of each day
and sanctuary is in the moments
that take your breath away

Unspoken

The moons awake
I lie at night and stare out to the sky
a tear that falls expresses all that hides behind my eyes

An angel's face, another place as you dream, I often gaze
This love we share unspoken care
has helped to make me brave

Sometimes lost my soul is found
within your trust and guidance
you are always there to make aware
the strength of loves reliance

Some crazy times I look to find how we ever made it through
it must be fate that brought me here to share my life with you

Undone

I have come undone, powerless as one
my heart is heavy, thoughts run deep
I'm drowning in the tears I weep

Looking out to see the light
as darkness falls on silent night

In search to find a sacred place
to help me mend my fall from grace

Just one more prayer to save my soul
reclaim a life that lost control
free the past with self-atone
and be grateful for each day I own

The Water's Edge

A blazing sun reflects a hue
across the horizon and into the blue

As valiant waves that dance with mirth
descend upon unbridled surf

Sequestered dunes of earthen clay
give refuge to the birds of prey

As melodic winds chant natures prayer
and rise throughout the balmy air

The rampant waters ebb and flow
above the primal Eden that lies below

The mystic piper calls to free
The broken spirits lost at sea

Who renounced their fears in the darkest hour
adrift are their fables of courage and valor

As the moon subsides into the ocean's glory
a brilliant sunrise tells another story

Plagued by memories

Sitting in a rocking chair trying to recall the passing years
clutching a bible, he sits by the phone
for a voice to remind him he is not all alone

He can't help but wonder where the years have all gone
and questions his purpose as life carries on

He thinks of his family with great admiration
the laughter and love that built his foundation

Plagued by the memories forever in his mind
life has been good and the years have been kind

Grateful for the friends he met along the way
and thankful for the moments that took his breath away

He opens a window just to feel a gentle breeze
gazes out to see the world
and watch the falling leaves

Suddenly the phone rings and he is happy just to know
there is someone on the other end
that wants to say hello
