Jaymee Gwen Poem
I am just a kid.
That’s what everyone says.
I haven’t lived as long, learned as much,
or worked as hard.
My seniors brush me off and push me away,
as if I’m just a blooming pest.
I am just a teen.
No one takes what I have to say.
My words are soft as wood among a world of steel.
Emotions flooding like a wild river,
Each day drowns me.
I just need to learn to swim.
I am just a woman.
My clothing regulates their attention.
I live as one of them yet,
My body is not one of my own.
Land of the free they say,
But only for those with green.
I am just a Human.
Life doesn’t feel worth living.
Brains melt on the pavement we walk.
Mouths full of gunpowder and metal.
Pills scattered across a pale body.
This is the world we live in.
Thank god, I am just a kid.
