Bill Marable Poem
I do not want to turn on the radio because I do not want to hear about more Palestinians starving in Gaza
I do not want to satisfy the growling in my stomach because I do not want to feel full when so many perish, even as food deteriorates at locked boarders
I do not want to watch television because I do not want to see the calamity of weaponized famine
Yet
my ears can not unhear
my hunger can not go unsatisfied
my eye can not unsee
the brutal horror of vengeance
unchecked
I dare not tune out the collective moans of a starving nation
I dare not think of my momentary lack when so many have suffered to the bone
I dare not watch when
targeted aggression goes awry
and innocents die
and the Red Crescent is no longer a symbol of piece, but a target for chaos and destruction
No I will not watch the world watch,
in silence

Bill Marable Poem
There is no scale that can weigh the power of hope
Winter ICE riding an Alberta Clipper from the new northern state down to the Gulf of America
A Brown wave
No time for Brown waves good bye
A brown wave
Sky ships set sail
Rouge cargo
Stripped, strapped, secure
Refugee - no refuge - Refugee
Loose dirt plowed
Roots shifted, strained
Lumps gathered
Tear watered seeds sewn
In Brown soil that hope
might sprout like a tree
Sky ship sets sail
Bounded cargo
Refugee - no refuge - Refugee

Strike Up the Ban
Who’s banning Gone with the Wind
Are they banning Huckleberry Finn
The Diary of Ann Frank might offend
Some German who wasn’t born back then

Bill Marable Poem
Hi-Choo
Early spring in Corinth and I’m bathing in a pollen shower as fuzzy green seedlings are whisked here and there in the blustery March breeze, I sneeze!!
Remnants of last night’s thunderstorm cruse across the pale blue canvas of the afternoon sky as pine cones fluttering in the breeze make me sneeze, I sneeze, I I I I sneeze!!
Even the old crape Myrtle, pronounced deceased years ago, is budding and basking in the evening glow, her babies preparing to become leaves, and I sneeze sneeze sneeze , I sneeze, I sneeze
As you can see
Pollen damn near
Got the best of me
But let me catch
my breath
and finish my soliloquy
Old Magnolia, washed in Nature’s seasonal offering, regain their forest green state, after a brief bloom, branches swaying with ease and I sneeze sneeze sneeze I sneeze I I sneeze I sneeze
Wew!! Hi Choo!!

Wade in the Water
While you can
Afore it steams away
Like the whistle of
A boiling kettle

Bill Marable Poem
At this point she has exceeded her lifespan and the time has come for an upgrade. It sounds so impersonal to speak of her simply as a tool. She was a constant, from the saffron glow of dawn through countless slumber-less midnight strolls.
She has served me nearly without fail for the last three years. Oh don’t get it twisted, she’s still one hella lady, it’s just that her memory ain’t what it used to be.
I began to see little signs of her impending demise several months aback; random delays unrelated to Wi-Fi connections -like let me think about it for a second before I reply-
Requesting a Reboot in the middle of an assignment then refusing to negotiate; just that annoying prompt: “System Error Please restart your device.”
Entering her dotage the skews became more transparent and untimely and less easily ignored.
Just this morning at the gym, you caused me to hold up the line when you decided to engage in a mid function nap.
Her replacement arrived via mail order today, slender and all made up in a most attractive steel gray. I caressed her lubricous uncased body tenderly yet firmly and place her next to you on the bed.
I am overcome with Ambivalence as I watch you drift away into the cloud, engaging in a cyber dance with my new companion. The final countdown begins and I stand by your side as your clock rate descends.
Reluctantly, I adhere to your final prompt: “Delete Everything -Reset!” How else could you move on?
I ease my new friend into her case, before asking her to capture your image. She complies and we post you in the social media graveyard:
iPhone 11, Black, Used but in Good Condition, 256 gigabytes, comes with a pretty red case/card holder. make an offer!

Bill Marable Poem
No breeze to start this day
Air as still as a snail In ponder
Oh! look a-yonder
Sunshine don’t need no wind
To usher her in
Obtrusive to night
Separation by light
Just as the Word say

Spring sometimes
cowers
To Winter after

Black boy
boy back
Bounded boy
boy broken
Beaten boy
boy banished
Behind boy
boy bye!
