Robert Blair Poem
the spring that
feeds the stream that
grows into a river that
wanders the land that
sways the valleys that
nurses the trees that
hides the lake that
mirrors the sky that
veils the night that
reveals the stars that
adores the moon that
brings the tide that
washes the shore that
awaits the dawn that
cradles the sun that
warms the wind that
chases the gust that
rustles the leaves that
rouses the birds to
sing your name so
the world may hear
the songs of Spring.

Robert Blair Poem
The truth accounts for a fiendish bill
But lies are sweet and lovely, still
Honorable tasks corrupt the will
The loyal betray for an easy thrill
Trust is a burden on brittle bones
Deceit makes light of painful groans
Faith declared: knees bend on stones!
While pious deniers sit on thrones
Sincerity dissembles for your demise
Tricksters will only blind your eyes
Candor swarms the dead like flies
And devious minds honestly advise
Righteousness is both prison and warden
Sinners are angels they need no pardon
Modesty is yet another lavish garden
Where tender hearts learn to harden
Silence is a scream of ignoble deeds
That provoke even Saints to immoral needs
A life in deference to righteous creeds
Finally lives when virtue bleeds

Robert Blair Poem
My life depends on utter defeat to this implacable foe.
Yet, my anguish contends to strike him a fatal blow.
He was born from my dream, to stand vigil for the light.
Now in confrontation, I am in awe of his might.
He is the watcher on the wall, the sentinel at the gate.
He is Atlas bearing heaven, the protector of faith.
A quixotic conception, our meeting was fated -
A man in despair versus the God he created
Yet, what is a god but the mirror of thought?
Without this mere man, he would be naught
But a man without faith is destined to fall
For me to survive, my god must stand tall
The light that he guards is no radiant stone,
But a pillar of truths that I dare not disown.
Foremost among them is the hope of my life
The light that reflects in the eyes of my wife
A shadow now threatens that beautiful glare.
So I've come for the light I left in his care.
But my creation stands firm in my way,
A colossus of resilience whose heart I must slay.
His gaze is relentless, his silence a scream
Born from the reflection of my grandest dream
Eternal and unyielding is what he is made of
This foe that I face is the shape of my love
Our battle is no epic that plays out in acts
For I do all the fighting while he barely reacts
Enduring volley after volley of my sorrow and shame
He regards me kindly as I lose at this game
I fall to my knees, weighed down by his stare,
His presence is a breeze that toys with the air.
I beg at his feet, "Command and I'll agree"
He responds with compassion, "You are as you see"
I am he with compassion, resilience, and sight
I am he who holds vigil and tends to the light.

Robert Blair Poem
A frothy crown, pale as the whites
Of eyes widened with fascination,
Perched on a robust body, deep as molasses.
Brooding; concealing a warm rapport.
But still so condescending, its stout posture
Condenses air to beads of sweat.
Invited, parched lips kiss the cold glass
Rewarded with familiar comfort -
A bitter burst, sharp and clean,
Fading into toffee warmth,
Hints of roasted coffee and chocolate bloom,
All linger, like a whispered secret.
The golden harp strums cheerful notes
In harmony with taps, clinks, and murmured oaths
Cheers dance over lacquered walls, awash with glee
As gulps of crisp bitters and molten sweets
Cascade, watering dry cracks in weary bones.
A tonic for the soul, it lifts the load -
Worries dissolve, fading like bubbles on the lip.
It washes away the settling dust,
Soothes the mind into peaceful currents,
Sinking burdens to its murky depths
As spirits rise to play in the air of its frothy crown.

Robert Blair Poem
Sweetling,
the ground is steady here
come, stand beside me
let the world shift and tremble;
still, we remain.
We are unshaken.
My Dream,
the space is small,
yet dreams unfold,
and no walls confine us.
let us build wonders to the horizon
and monuments that kiss the sky.
Our story never ends.
My Heart,
the shadows stir with monsters lurking
but they cannot reach us.
Here, we are untouchable,
protected by belonging.
Hold my hand,
and the darkness cannot take us.
We cast the dark away.
My Star,
a roaring flame burns bright between us
it never flickers nor will it wane,
in its glow, we are immortal,
and kept warm for all our days.
Let it light the way.
My Love,
this is our place, our safe harbour,
uncharted and unspoiled, our love the only port.
we build it within the folds of time,
a space where we are safe,
a place where we are whole.
Close your eyes, we are home.
