Faith Ching Poem
Birthday
By Tony Angelo
There once was a fellow, that's me, you see,
whose birthday was in August so my presents were free.
With summary breezes, travel plans in mind, it would seem, too cosmos, might have had only me in mind!

Faith Ching Poem
By Tony Angelo
If you're drifting on a empty ocean,
with no wind to feed your sail,
The vast expanse of blue would surrounds you,
Into a solitary journey without a trail.
The waves would crash against your weathered hull,
with a rhythmic lullaby that soothes your soul,
but yet, the silence is such a void to fill,
your requested destination which was unknown even still.
The sun has beat down, in a relentless glare,
a reflecting off the endless sea,
Your thirst grows as your hope may begins to wane,
adrift in this vast, unforgiving sea.
But still, you press on, your spirit is unbroken,
determined to find your way back home,
For in the sounds of this ocean, a path is spoken,
to a journey that you must undertake, alone.
The stars above are your only guiding light,
It shines down upon your weary form,
Offering a beacon in the darkest night,
a promise of your safe return, a haven from the storm.
Your days may have turn to night, then weeks to months,
and your supplies may have dwindle, as your strength fades,
Yet, you refuse to give in, or even succumb to what you haunts,
a whisper of a fate you cannot evade.
And then, in the distance, a glimmer of hope,
from a far distant shore, with a promise of land,
You must muster your last ounce of strength, and you cope,
by steering your vessel towards ttis promise of land.
As you see the waves crash against this rocky coast,
You can imagine a triumphant song, a symphony of you life,
And as you step onto the shore, remembering all your lost,
but now, a new chapter can begins, free from any other cost.
From this empty ocean, a t life was nearly stole,
has forged you anew, a resilient soul,
For in the face of adversity, you did not settle,
but emerged stronger, with your spirit now whole.

Faith Ching Poem
To: Maya Angelou
From: Tony Angelo
In the city a chisel across the grain?, like a concrete heartbeat under my feet, I heard her voice, Maya, like warm a river flowing off the cracked pavements, stories that rose up like steam on a hot summer day, inspiring and touching. Like a cool breeze on a summer day.
This black woman's voice, was a powerful drumbeat awakening my echoes of ancestral pain, her inspiration made the very air clear. Her words, passionate soothing enlightening with the threads of struggle and triumph, opening my soul mind and understanding like a wildflowers pushing through the cracks in a pavement, it was truly a testimony to her own resilience of spirit, being abused, neglected and still educated refusing to be contained, refuses to be forgotten, refuses to concede to the hard-edged buildings that scrape her own skies.
The turmoil she bore, a weight of inherited wounds, became her fuel, it ignited her passion, with a fire that could enlighten the coldest heart, through shared understanding conditions an empathy. With the dream that others will feel it now, this passion too unveil humanity into its simple as parts, through the power of words that inspire and transform, to uplift and illuminate those in the corners of society, she was a beacon for urban landscape, beckoning us all rise, and reach beyond the limitations that any society imposes and to craft our own narratives, full of passion and unstands, with resilient dreams.
Her legacy, was a song echoing through each alleyway in my soul, inspiring the souls of every child of color with a promise of hope, “You are enough, you are seen, you will be heard”. Maya Angelou, is that guiding star in a world of darkness, to continually light our way, to pushing us forward, her powerful voice, a constant, unwavering, inspiration.
