I Wish I Could Leave

I dreamed about the snow-topped
Pines of Michigan
Wishing I Could Go Back
And See Them Again

I dreamed about the voluminous
Mountains of California
Wishing I could go Back
And take someone out to Dinner

I dreamed about the scenic
Seascapes from Mexico
Wishing I could go Back
And have one of their native tacos

I dreamed about cosmopolitan
Toronto in Canada
Wishing I Could go Back
And view a city, it seems, without a flaw

I dreamed about
A better tomorrow
Wishing I could go forward
And travel instead of being in sorrow

My Heart Goes Out To You

I remember when you once loved me
And showed me that you care
We only had a short time together
Though my heartstrings have a permanent tear

Your absence was heartbreaking
Both our daughter and I missed you very much
I raised her the best I could
She added such a beautiful touch

Now that we are all older
I still feel that familiar crush
And let you know again
That I miss you very much

Love Yourself and Always Stay Positive

Love Yourself and Always Stay Positive
For you have to start being your best friend
Before You Can Be true to Any Others
It'll be this way til the very end

Be accepting of yourself, it's true
And feel your self-esteem rise, it will make you feel brand new
Always be open to the warm feelings people give you
Only a few special people will be able to do to you what they do

Sometimes bad situations get in the way
But alot of positive things will happen, just pray
And keep these positive reminders in your head
That the road looks good ahead.

Springtime, It's Springtime

Springtime, it's springtime
Winter has taken a leave of absence
Now it's time for flower to make their grand entrance
Leaving us awestruck and inspired

The mild breezes drift in through the shades
Almost knocking over the vase last year in pottery class I made
And the weatherman predicts unseasonably rainy weather
I start working out because soon summer will come and I want to feel light as a feather

A unique black squirrel climbs up a tree full of lime green buds
I put away my worn out, dull sweaters
For a nice outfit of cotton duds

Today the rays of sun stay brighter longer
Don't worry, I tell myself, for no longer do I have to feel somber
At the metropolitan parks nearby
The snow shovelers have to say goodbye

Springtime, it's springtime
We can't wait to welcome you again
But for now I'd like to take a walk
With my new best friend

Michelle

Michelle has been a great friend
Since I moved to NYC
There's been domestic violence in my life
From people that for some reason want to hurt me

We haven't been able to get together
Because there is always someone following me
And I always tell her I want to leave NYC

But apart from that
Michelle is from Belize and makes really great jerk chicken
She's really pretty and petite and I admire her beauty

I hope Michelle is doing ok
And that she will always be happy
Hopefully she's still cooking up a storm
And isn't like me, feeling downhearted and crappy

Waves

Waves
   In and Out
On the Shore
Until you can see them no more

White caps
   Touch my toes
As I dodge the crabs that waddle by
And all at once I catch the football
   My friend throws

Is the sun wanting to be
   Part of the fun
Yes, the love birds say
We promise you can take a rest when the sunset is done

Hop into the VW
Onto a cookout at the campground we know
Dreading the day we have to part
With bikinis and trunks, yes it will start to snow

Waves
   In and out
On the shore
Thank you for all your glamour and galore

Birthday Cake

It's the sweetness that
visits once a year
To let loved ones realize,
They are celebrated, my dear

Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry cream and carrot
Without them it feels we have no merit
Spongy, ooey gooey cake moist to the touch
With a delectable, creamy sweetness
You gotta indulge in it's punch

Cut into slices for all to enjoy
Call in Kara, Carol and Roy
For that delectable sincerely we love to relish
Until next year, where well meet again
To indulge, it's a most enjoyable sin!

A Season of Sun

On this day in May, it was slowly turning into Summer
What a relief after a long, cold winter
My fan had become my best friend
And I loved to wake up and open the shades in my kitchen with the sun coming in

I cried a lot because he wasn't there
Left with only the memories of yesteryear
Wishing I could bring them back
And have the love and support that I used to.
Laughing in the waters of Santa Monica and Mazatlan
Like, when was young, I wanted to do.

I was thankful to be alive
To hear the reassurance of mothers
When their babies start to cry
To be grateful for my writing table
And be thankful to be able

To wake up and see the sun
And know that God's work is not done.

Nighttime

It's at night that I feel at best
Knowing that I can lay down and finally rest

That's the time when the stars come out
There's one winking at me, I must have some serious clout

The moon watches over the earth
When Dracula prowls, possibly he left blood on your hearth

The kids all snicker because their favorite TV show comes on
My hubby and I watch our favorite rom-com

Restaurants are filled as chefs are preparing
Food from around the world if you are daring

Teens take off for their first date
Hoping they have enough money and the kiss is first rate

The lights all shine from the skyscrapers in NYC
Morning will come soon, it's almost over, what a pity.

Gratitude

As I thanked God, it was the best
Showing gratitude towards humanity, it is the best
Feeling that someone or something was looking over
Luckier than a four leaf clover

I was happy, it was true
Don't want to feel bad, don't want to feel blue
But be grateful, it's nice to say the least
To not say bad things, don't be a beast

Look at the good and not the bad
Say everything is cool to people, it is rad
Get away from the negativity
And just be happy, don't be bad
