The Love I Have

The love I have for you won't die
It's like the vastness of the sky
Infinite in length of feet
Immortal, total, full, complete
I have no means to show you now
But maybe someday, someway, somehow
I can before my life is through
Give all the love I have to you

I Thought

I thought perhaps you'd gone away
I cried for you the other day
I thought about what I should do
I didn't want to message you
I thought you'd call but after 4
I knew you wouldn't anymore
I thought I'd put away my phone
I sat that night sad and alone

Easy Cowboy

My phone's atop my heart tonight
Most times it's there I keep
In case you send a message
Because you cannot sleep
I wouldn't hear a ringtone
It's on during the day
But that won't make a difference
I'll get it anyway
I set it on to vibrate
A custom patterned buzz
Made special for the sweetest girl
That is or ever was
I'll know it's you who sent it
The who from whence it came
It's set to waltz 3/4 time
The rhythm of your name

Reality Check

What could I offer to you anyway?
Even if some day there'd be a someday
I'm watching myself getting more and more gray
Older by 14 years, 48 days
We'd have some good years then a burden I'd be
And you'd have to bear it since you married me
The more that I think it, the more that I see
I should give up this dream and let you be free

Goodnight, my Love

Goodnight my love, you're in my heart
The end has come before the start
The thought of someday's still alive
So many years til 1-0-5
I think it's time I go to bed
And hope no dreams enter my head
I'm tired from this uphill climb
So this might be my final rhyme...

Let It Go

At peace I am accepting of
The things I cannot change
I can't turn back the hands of time
To craft and rearrange
The choices that I've made in life
Nor can tomorrow say
For certain that you'll be my wife
Or that there'll be someday
But it's alright, I've grown so much
I'll never be the same
And time this hurting heart will heal
Yet love will still remain

Time and Time Again

Days to weeks to months to years
As time goes on it dries the tears
A tissue for a heart that weeps
Less sad dreams and better sleeps

Though waiting for the time to pass
Can take so long, a minute lasts
An hour, and an hour's like
Fourteen days and thirteen nights

The weight comes off, no appetite
The beard gets long, you're quite the sight
While going down heartbroken street
The key is just stay on your feet

Keep on walking, don't turn 'round
Time and you will cover ground
And then one day the sun will shine
The birds will sing, the weather's fine

And when you shave off all that hair
You'll realize those were always there
You hadn't noticed the sublime
Sit down to eat, it's breakfast time

Carry On

I think of you alot these days
Now that you have gone
And though at times it's difficult
I'll learn to carry on
I miss you and I love you
You were more than just my friend
I'll always hope for someday
Until the very end

The Big If

I'll always hold this dream with you
A chalet by a lake, us two
A long time spent exploring France
From minute one it's all romance
Will it happen? I don't know
But if it does then off we'll go
I'm saving up to pay the way
So I'll be ready, if someday

Don't Cry Troubador

Don't cry, it will be alright
The hardest hours are late at night
When dark and silence fill the air
Into a fireplace I stare
Alone and sitting in my chair
Wishing you were with me there

An afghan warms me through and through
But cannot warm as good as you
It's you and me babe, say I do
And to you I'll say I do too
The hardest hours are late at night
Don't cry, it will be alright
