Ghost-ed

Today I ghosted someone
please don't ask why,
cause they really seemed sweet
and all I did was lie.

About my thoughts, intentions,
the date he asked to meet
he asked me to the pictures,
I smiled through gritted teeth.

With a sprinkle of deceit
I strung him along,
to fill some hollow void
when I knew it was was wrong.

For weeks on end
we'd talk for hours every day,
but in the back of my mind
other forces were at play.

You see these days this happens often
one person decides to run,
but it's usually not me
with their fingers on the gun.

I wanted to understand
why boys always seem to leave,
is it something intrinsic
or like Adam and like Eve.

Is there some amazing rush
the thrill of the chase,
once the prey is ensnared
their value is erased.

Like a hunter and a deer
furious passion in their eyes,
no sympathy, no mercy,
they live for your demise.

But all I've felt is guilt
there is no victory to boast,
between these walls i'll hide
and haunt this house like a ghost.

The Lakes

Pollution and overcrowding
the Earth's limit is near,
if there is to be no solution
just take me far from here.

Take me to the lakes
of that ancient monastic city,
to the Hills of Glendalough
to live in peace, to live in pity.

Take me to the Lakes
hidden beneath majestic fog,
away from crowds cloaked in sickness
away from cities masked in smog.

Take me to the Lakes
where flora and fauna still survive,
where wildly wildflowers grow
where nature still thrives.

Take me to the Lakes
to breathe the clean summer air,
to bathe in glacial pools of blue
and spend my days without a care.

Take me to the Lakes
to sleep under the stars,
on dandelions i'll dream
is there really life on Mars?

Heatwave

We stepped carelessly outside
one hot August day,
to see the seething summer sun
and her wrath on us she lay.

The sweltering heat
it struck us first,
and sent us hunting for shade
dizzy with thirst.

So heavy was that air
so unforgiving that cruel sun,
she scalded my skin to blisters
then blinded my eyes for fun.

In the shade of an oak
for a moment we lay,
but through the branches she pushed
and relief she burned away.

Waving our white flag
back inside we did retreat,
to the air-conditioned rooms
sighed the sun 'vengeance is sweet'.

Bee Kind

'Oh hello there
Bumble, bumble, Mr.bumblebee,
let me get you a drink
do bees like water or iced tea?
You do look very tired
Mr.bumblebee.
Why don't you fly away?
Is it true bees make honey?
Here let me help you
i'll lift you...
Ouch!Ouch!Ouch!
Mr.Bumblebee
I thought we were friends,
why sting me?'

Sweet little girl
I meant to hurt you not,
but I can carry on no longer
and this ground is burning hot.

Everything was blurry
I couldn't fly straight,
I kept hitting walls of black
in truth i've lost all faith.

Our queen has found death
my brother gone too,
my body is burning red
my bleeding heart is blue.

Brave little girl
such pain you have eased,
in sleep i'll find peace
dream of flying in a breeze.

Just one little favour
my kind little friend,
please look after my flowers
or disaster may descend.
