Evolution of My Life

"Evolution of My Life“Evolution of My Life”

In Upstate New York's rustic veil,
A warrior's story slowly starts to sail,
A tale of scars that won't subside,
Of PTSD's heavy, crushing tide.

A veteran, 39, with eyes that roam,
Haunted by memories of distant home,
Migraines and TBI's relentless toll,
Residuals of war's cruel role.

Substance abuse and insomnia's dark night,
Depression's shroud, a constant fight,
He struggles to keep his demons at bay,
To find solace in a new way.

In a motel room, a temporary nest,
He lives in limbo, trying to find rest,
From the past that won't let go its hold,
From the memories that make his heart grow old.

A small town once celebrated his name,
For his prowess on the gridiron and mat fame,
But now he's just a shadow of his former self,
A recluse, lost in a world of wealth.

Operation Iraqi Freedom's heavy toll,
The scars that linger, the stories untold,
The friends who fell, the ones who remain,
The weight of memories that still bring the pain.

He chases his degree, a beacon of hope,
A chance to rise above the cope,
To leave the darkness, find his inner peace,
And silence the demons that his mind releases.

One day at a time, he'll find his way,
Through the shadows, into a brighter day,
Where harmony and balance take their place,
And the demons of his past begin to lose their space.

Though small-town whispers still echo through his mind,
He'll rise above, leaving the past behind,
For he's found a new path, a new way to be. A veteran finding redemption in serenity.

Life after death

In the midst of darkness, we fear the unknown What lies beyond this life we've known But do not fret, do not despair For there is hope in the afterlife we share Though we must leave this earthly plane Our soul will continue on, no longer restrained In a world full of light and love We'll reunite with those we're dreaming of No longer bound by mortal fears No pain, no sorrow, no more tears Our souls will soar, free as a bird In a realm where love is the only word We'll be surrounded by celestial grace In this new existence, we'll find our place Greeted by loved ones, who've gone before As we embark on this eternal tour We'll be guided by a heavenly hand Through lush gardens, and golden sand We'll dance with angels, under a glowing sky And bask in the warmth of a sun that never dies Our souls will be at peace, in this afterlife No longer burdened by the struggles and strife For we'll have shed our mortal shell And found true freedom, in this heavenly dwell So do not fear the end, my friend For death is simply a new beginning, in the end And in the afterlife, we'll find our true worth Uplift your spirit, for there is life after death on Earth.
