My Question To God

I had a question to ask God one particular day
Lord, can you tell me how do I pray?

Do I pray standing up on my two feet
or do the opposite and take a seat?

Do I pray in silence, not saying a word
or speak aloud when I can be heard?

Do I bow my head and face the ground
or cast my eyes up toward heaven abound?

Clasp my hands together or hold them apart
tell me, O. Lord, where do I start?

The Lord responded, "I can tell you today
there are no rules on how to pray"

Just talk to me. that's all I ask
it is not a difficult task

So, my questions been answered, I have my reply
I know how to speak to my Creator in the sky

God Woke Me Up

God opened my eyes
at His command
I raised up my body
and got to my feet on which I stand

He wanted me to see
the beautiful day
and all the wonderful blessings
that would come my way

No matter the weather
or any rough spots that may lie ahead
this day was a gift
and I had nothing to dread

So, I welcomed the day
as it began to unfold
the Lord's spirit surrounded me
and my spirit it upholds

Life Is Not Fair

Life is not fair
It will never be
Good days come around
As do tragedies

When difficult times come
We often ask "why?"
Sometimes we pray
Sometimes we cry

Trying to balance it all out
And dealing with the stress
Really does put our faith
To the ultimate test

It puts us through our paces
Because we have feelings and we care
And although we wish it weren't true
Life will always not be fair

I Am Your Child

I am your child
Your flesh and blood
I don't ask for much
Just your love

When I have questions
I want to come to you
And get the answers I seek
That I hope are truthful, too

There will be times when I will challenge
The authority you hold
And you will hold me accountable
For being so bold

My moods may change
From time to time
And trying to understand those phases
Will boggle your mind

The parent/child relationship
Is not always an easy thing
It takes a lot of love and patience
And of course, understanding

So, there will be disagreements
And we may not always see eye to eye
But one thing that will never change
The love between you and I
