Cling

The sharp knife of simplicity
cut a transverse incision through my scalp.
The hands of hope gutted out my psyche,
deconstructed my mind,
and organized it into a coherent tumor
that fills the gap once deep in my brain.

Taught to have nothing thoughts and empty prayers,
which was once so overcomplicated
to witness from my old distant eyes.
When I would stare at paper
to see a blank page ready to be congested
and crowded with the temporary potential that lives everywhere.

Waiting for all the possibilities to be printed out before me,
but none of them ever came.
I tried to interpret particles as strings
and claimed motion behind the stillest of objects.
But all of my theories slipped into the dust of insecurity
and washed away into the pool of vanity.

But no longer am I maneuvering through seldom places.
No longer do I act stiff and unwieldy as a newborn child.
No longer do I try to find fractions of life to store in time capsules.
No longer am I planting the grave in which I will be buried.
And no longer am I treading in water,
wishing for the security of seabed to appear at my feet.

Now I am one with the roads that take me to the destinations I crave to go.
I am one with the ambition a wave possesses when it’s pushed to shore;
that single endpoint. That deadline that will never be met.
The range of probabilities never to be considered.
Those stars that are never to be discovered.
The boats that have capsized before ever meeting land.

It all fades away before me.
Shedding off these unneeded layers that once consumed my life.
Unraveling and revealing to me the fundamental nature of humanity.
Compressing into a hot light of quiet clarity.
Compact and intact with the buoyant atmosphere around me.
Once so full of dread and mistrust, I could barely breathe.

Constantly and comfortably,
I am consistently confident
that the present day will continue
to bring coherence, certainty, and calmness
to the storms that will carry onward
when I am no longer clinging onto the consequences and complexities of the future.

Calibration

Here I stand, entirely symmetrical
with the longitudinal lines
that thrusts perfectly through
the balance of our planet
with not a moment of fluctuation.

Stiffly positioned in a direct stance,
ensuring not a single curve
in the chain I hold around time.
Not a wrinkle, nor a dent, nor a mistake
that presents itself to me as an archway.
Not a false illustration.

Just my feet fallen flat against the grass,
my toes onward with the steps I take,
calculating as I travel parallel to the
latitudinal path presenting itself before me
with no assistance; pure isolation.

God, I have no aid to bring me acres worth of land.
If you do, I’ll establish them as countries for your creation.
God, bring me miles worth of road
and I will assemble them into streets for children to play in.
Bring me wool and cotton
and soon our people will have these beds to lay in.
Bring me boats lost at sea, I will give them navigation.

God, bring me mountains
and I will pound them to the ground.
Bring me rivers with the harshest of currents
and I will build you dams with the toughest of concrete.
Bring me gray water and I’ll bring you filtration.
Bring me obsolete seeds and I’ll bring you germination.
Bring me cold winters and I’ll bring you hibernation.

I will ensure a methodical rhythm
within the cycles of life and death; stabilized.
I will guarantee consistent harmony
within the peace of flora and fauna; neutralized.
I will place your weather under my reliable regulation.

I will tie a lasso around heaven
and I will herd angels like dogs round up sheep
and guide them to the fresh dirt of Earth.
I’ll be the biology, I’ll be the chemistry,
I’ll be the languages, the history, and the government.
When there is crime I’ll bring needed legislation.
Where there is absurdity I’ll bring acute education.

I will do truly what no man can;
stabilize yesterday and tomorrow,
combine them together into one,
and create the ideal equilibrium of both.
The faultless combination.
The synchronized liberation.

I will deliver you what I have,
trace it through the atmosphere,
through the currents and seaways,
through the tectonic plates, the biosphere,
and through the ecosystems I will keep in rotation.

I will be in tune, in range,
yet in a place in which you will never be able to reach;
aligned with the heavens and the hell fires.
I’ll be there; going through
the full forces of Godly imitation.
And pushing myself further and further
into pure authenticated calibration.

Crossroad

Tainted fate was broadcasted this afternoon,
and the life of which I had called mine
was pasted into the dreary news.
Quoted as a mundane, overused headline.

But I saw it for what it is within;
naked and sunken where bones meet skin,
a sullen little echo of mine.

Steering down memory lane,
grazing fingertips over the wind of essence.
Liberation courses through my veins.
But I beheld a sudden strain upon my adolescence.

Rebirthed into something strange
with an unfamiliar name and a staggering age,
reality brought me back to the harsh presence.

Then upon cruising, I met a crossroad;
a junction forking out into two pavements.
I stared at the uncertain threshold
and defined the pair as Sorrow and Resentment.

I sat mellowly in the inbetween,
unsure of which path to intervene,
so I carved a new road and named it Acceptance.
