Martin Mukwaya Poem
Uganda,
My Uganda,
Your Uganda,
Our Uganda.
Land of freedom,
Land of victory,
Land of prosperity,
Land of hope,
And above all,
A land of success.
Where peace resides,
Where freedom resides,
Where calmness resides,
Where peace is peace,
Not pieces of peace.
Home of milk and honey,
Home of roses,
Home of hospitality,
Home of productivity,
Home for the homeless,
Home of everyone,

Martin Mukwaya Poem
There is none like you
No one can soothe my heart like you do
However much I have searched
I have found none like you
Because
You are one of kind
Many are beautiful
Many are kind
Many are loving and caring
Many are appreciative
Many are intelligent.
But to me
None is beautiful than you
To me
None is kind than you
To me
None is loving and caring than you
To me
None is intelligent than you
To me
None is appreciative than you
You are one of a kind.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
You made cry,
You made me curse the day I was born,
You made me ask God to put my life at halt,
You made reduction of my days on earth,
Because of the gloomy face,
I hold all the time
I Hate You.
I don’t wish you any good,
I don’t even think you deserve anything good,
I don’t with death,
But I wish you hell,
I Hate you to the extent of hating your friends too.
There is no word of forgiveness,
You can tell me to change my attitude,
I just wish I never see you again,
how I wish you hide whenever you see me.
My Hatred for you,
Is equivalent to that of Eve to the snake,
You didn’t look at my ambitions,
You looked at my sorrows and failures.
I really hate you.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
My father always by my side,
My father who decided my existence,
My father who ensured my goodness in my life,
My father who ensured wellbeing in my life.
What can I give my father?
He acres just like no one else,
Where I need rescue
He becomes a lion
When I need happiness,
He becomes as playful as a puppy
Is there anything that can reward a father,
Is there anything that deserves his love?
Is there anything that worth to be given to him
Think of cars, houses and other riches
Still they can’t reach his pay
But I got a payment to him,
I know what he deserves
Give him success in education,
Give him success in your life,
And he will be happy.
But above all pray for him.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
The village we live
It is what we call granny’s place
Because we think we are to classic for the village,
Talk of the village and see one’s anger.
The village is where the goodness of the world resides
Everything worth for one to live
The food we eat in towns
The greatest fruits in towns reside in the village
Infact the village is better than the town
Offer me wine
Offer me bread
Offer me money
Offer me good houses and cars
And I leave the village.
But,
Let all the cars and houses,
Let all the riches perish,
I will know where my roots are,
The village.
The sweetness of the weather
The loveliness of the air
The unity of people.
All in the village.
Thus, I prefer village life.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
Why don’t we show them love?
Why are we so rude?
Why don’t we treat them well?
Why don’t you show equality?
Why are they mistreated
Why! Yet it is your blood, red blood.
Is it because of their skin colour?
Is it because of their sexes?
Is it because of their background?
Is it because you were forced to do this job?
Is it because you are revenging?
You teachers who punished you.
Why do you give core punishment?
For the other
Do you even find time to talk to the other?
Why are the others rights not respected?
Yet they are all children.
All are children
They are the youngsters
The fathers of tomorrow
The school masters of tomorrow
But which image are you portraying
Should they also mistreat their male students like you do.
All are children.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
Rosa,
Poor, beautiful God’s perfect creature
Everything good on her
Regardless the size of her pocket.
She is just a mere teenager
But her troubles are older than her.
Her office is the country club
At Najera
The floor with glitering shining tiles
Is her office seat
And
The dancing pipe,
Is her desk
She is a club dancer.
Rosa,
A part time dancer
And a student at one of the universities,
She comes from a humble background
So, all troubles are beyond her measure.
She is a student before the sun sets
And later,
When the sun has gone to rest
She is a dancer
Who earns from her beauty.
Touch and continue.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
Before we were working together
We were united
We worked together
We lived together
We ate on the same piece of bread.
There was nothing like racism,
There was nothing like racial discrimination,
There was nothing like segregation
There was nothing like tribalism,
But now that’s the way to go.
Where are our roots,
Where is the love for each other we had?
Where is the kindness we had?
Where are the beautiful creatures of God?
Those that treated each other with equality.
Please brothers and sisters,
Why do we separate ourselves?
As if we have not been together before,
But now we are no longer a whole,
We are pieces.
Lives fall apart.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
You will be mine,
Forever and ever,
You will love me,
Forever and ever,
Even families shall not separate us,
Even friends shall not separate us,
Not even a problem shall separate us,
Poverty shall not separate us,
Diseases shall not separate us,
May be,
Death shall separate us,
But No,
Because even after death,
We shall meet in heaven.
I shall call you mine,
And you shall call me yours,
I shall love you,
I shall be by your side,
And you shall be by my side,
Forever and ever.

Martin Mukwaya Poem
Whose cows are those ?
That go to everyone’s garden
Destroying poor farmer’s crops
Whose cows ?
Are on free range
On the whole village.
Where will the poor gardener eat ?
If his source of income is now,
Source of tears
Not of joy
But of sorrow and agony.
Guard your cows
Karota
Unless you want to see blood
Of your animals.
Be careful.
We don’t want you
To start pointing at us
With your mouth
Saying
Those people led to myt suffering.
