The King

Shall I compare myself to my king,
My humble lord Lebron,
With his 4 rings,
His Lakers jersey he dawns,

With his shot point average so high,
The world without him,
I would surely die,
His time all spent training in the gym,

His team now weak,
His Time nearly past,
He acts so meek,
I’m not sure how long I will last,

His eyes still looking towards the future,
With his son he still must nurture

An Ode to Steven

Steven a wonder cursed to be a man,
The world made to his plan,
He works towards valiancy and tranquility,
Steven a victim of crime and pain,
A warrior a man held in high regards killed in disdain,

He lost his life fighting for our future,
His wounds unable to be sutured,
Lost his life to that Mega Dart,
That Nerf war so violent,
The world after his death fell silent,

Steven was a marvel in human form,
Carrying on now in his garb set and torn,
My world still moves yet time feels frozen,
Steven was a friend and a mentor all the same,
Now set to rest with no one who would give him blame.

A Modern Cowboy

I ride to the store on horseback and saddle,
I Leave him outside its distasteful to ride indoors,
My horse stays there it waits it needs no shackle,
I wonder inside my eyes beholden,

This world I have found,
It shines bright it glows with electricity,
I wander I’m lost this place a city,
I don’t know where to exist in this modern World,

I leave the store now with this plastic holding,
My horse I return to,
He looks at me with a sight of scolding,
I shudder sadly knowing our time has nearly past,

We wonder back to the prairie,
The horizon crept upon by cities leaving us teary.

A Sestet of Strength

Strength a labor of time,
A work which breaks bones,
An effort which I have made mine,

While I work once again,
This time I work with friends,
With this I can go through the pain.
