Love Comes Softly

It came to me as I was brushing the hair from your eyes.
I had often wondered, but right then I realized.
You said not a word, just looked at me and smiled.
For me it’s always been so elusive to find,
I thought my luck had run out, and then it came without trying.
Now here it is clear in my mind, how love comes softly.

It doesn’t always have to hit you like a tidal wave.
Sometimes it can creep up on you slowly.
Then you realize you feel it there one day.
Love can come softly.
It’s knowing each other’s thoughts without speaking a sound.
Her fragrance as she passes you by.
That pain in your heart when she’s not around.
I didn’t know love can come softly.

I think of your smile now that we both know.
The way we hold each other and won’t let go.
Feeling it in our hearts surrounded by its glow.
The way you make me feel as a man.
Standing together hand in hand.
It’s loving without pressure and being totally free.
Always being the perfect balance when the other needs to lean.
It’s amazing when love comes softly.

The Heart I Never Had Before

Laying in bed with you this morning, your breath hot against my chest.
Hearing the comfort in the rhythm of your breathing, I can finally lay my mind to rest.
I wish I could lay in this warmth with you forever, and leave the cold of the outside world far behind.
As you quietly wake it`s our bodies we can rediscover, we will be alone together and forget the rules of time.

It`s your lips on my lips.
It`s your hands in my hands.
It`s your body close beside me.
It`s almost more than I can stand.
It`s your voice in my ear.
It`s to love without fear.
You are more than I could ever ask for.
My love, your the heart I never had before.

I wonder is this what it`s like to be in heaven.
With you I feel like I`m floating all the time.
I have no other words to use to describe this.
Lost in your eyes, the rest of the world to me becomes blind.
With in each others arms is all I ever needed.
Being so close, my heart melts into yours.
If the rest of the world could see our love than they would feel cheated..
My love....you are the heart I never had before.

It`s your lips on my lips.
It`s your hands in my hands.
It`s your body close beside me.
It`s almost more than I can stand.
It`s your voice in my ear.
It`s to love without fear.
You are more than I could ever ask for.
My love, your the heart I never had before.

Ode To My Friend

An ode to a great friend, Shadow is his name.
We hunted deer in the fall but trucking was our game.
Years on the road, running Canada and the U.S
To have anyone in that truck, simply put he was the best.
He would listen as I talked of home, as we would roll through the night.
Now it's harder than ever to look over to the empty seat to my right.
Making me laugh as he would howl, when I sang to some old song.
His head out the window looking for a smile, which never took too long.
Countless memories we will have, and I'll always hold near.
Companionship for so many miles and year after year.
So keep an ear out for me boy, as you play in your new hunting grounds.
One day I'll be riding over the rim,and will be calling.
When it's my turn to come around.

My Last Good Bye.

Can you see me, I think I feel it, but I keep losing ground.
Well don't you see me, just look clearly.
I'm still crying and tears are all around.
That's when I wake up, just trying to clear my head.
There's that familiar street light glow, looking back from the frosted window.
Just sitting alone here in my bed.
No movement from the wind chime, as dreams are chasing me all the time.
I'm not sure what else to think or what to do.
The empty place next to me in bed, remembering the words you once said.
Like " how easily my love came to you."
It's hard to think of tomorrow, when your living in the sorrow.
How did things turn out to be so wrong.
I remember when I asked her, I remember all the laughter.
I can't believe now she's gone.

This must be what it's like to have your heart torn out.
So I just wanna scream and shout.
I can't stand it when I'm sleeping.
In my dreams she never see's me.
I can no longer take it where I live.
No love there left to give.
Just some tear stains on the floor.
My heart has never been torn out like this before.

When on my knee's and praying, I know you here the words I'm saying.
I just want you once to touch me in my dreams.
Don't know why you were taken, everyday my heart is breaking.
I still feel your presence so strongly in me.
The dimple on your chin, Sunday mornings sleeping in.
It was loving one another with such ease.
The days seems so long, I promise I'll move on.
I just wanted to see the wind chime move once without a breeze.
So I'll get up off the floor, and stop waiting for you to walk on through the door.
I have to stop cooking for two.
The times where I'm dreaming, when I'm there I'll quit screaming.
I was just trying to say my last good bye to you

Just Like Rain

Walking down this street.
Thinking about how my life has changed.
The stars were out tonight.
Yet the weather it calls for rain.
That's just fine with me.
There's still a smile upon my face.
I'm as calm as I can be.
I don't ever want to leave this place.
The first drop hits my skin.
It starts to wash away the pain.
No question on how it makes me feel.
As your love falls around me just like rain.

People seem to get down, every time it starts to rain.
I just think of it as your love as each drop hits me.
I'm soaked through and I like it this way.
How your love falls around me just like rain.

I can taste it on my lips.
Now all I want is more.
That is my only wish.
When I approach you at your front door.
It softly falls in perfect rhythm.
It's music to my ears.
No lightening to flash in my eyes.
No thunder to cause me fear.
My heart keeps walking on your way.
As your love falls around me just like rain.

First Dance

Would you like to dance with me, and feel my arms around your waist?
Maybe our lips could brush together, to give each other a little taste.
Let us always remember this song as we the others around us far behind.
Now we can move amongst the stars above, no worries of space and time.

As I gaze into your eyes, I get lost in your stare.
Finding myself gasping for breath, I seem lost of air.
The warmth of your embrace makes me lightheaded on this night.
That smile which warms my heart, you are such a beautiful sight.
Here there is no deception, no pain, or reason to cry.
I wish you could see yourself looking through my eyes.

The first dance is almost over as the melody soon will end.
Yes this song may soon be over, as the first of many now begins.
Your gaze near keeps me steady as I drink in the smell of your perfume.
Drunk with so many emotions, my senses opened up like flowers in bloom.
No, more wishful thinking as you’re standing with me here.
I’ll always have this feeling; it will be with me all my years.
Let’s keep all the emotions overflowing, and hold them deep inside.
We can explore all the thoughts we have for each other, sharing this journey we call life.
A passion that won’t die, with this energy never to end.
A little message I had to let you know, one I knew I had to send.

My Hometown

I come from a small town,
Nine thousand in all.
There’s nothing really fancy here.
Just a couple of strip malls.
We like our Tim Hortons coffee,
Hockey’s the sport of choice where we get loud.
It’s really all we got to cheer for,
Since the factories left our town.
For me I drive a mixer,
Out there hauling concrete.
This is just a blue collar town.
Everyone trying make it on their own two feet.
This was a railroad and factory town,
Way back in the day.
I remember when I was a teen,
Like my friends we just wanted to escape.
For ten long years I had left,
I just traveled around.
I knew I had to come back,
I missed my old stomping grounds.
I couldn’t believe it,
Somewhere inside me I got the call.
It was tugging at my heart,
My hometown of Smiths Falls.
Located on the Rideau Canal,
Traveled by the pioneers in the fur trade.
Technology and the buildings always change,
Yet the heart here remains the same.
Life in this town right now isn’t easy,
I know it’s like that everywhere.
If you found yourself down and out in my hometown,
There’s always a hand reaching out to drag a friend from despair.
So it’s small town living,
Yes this is what I know.
I may go here and there from time to time,
Smiths Falls will always be my home.
It’s knowing all the faces,
It’s not worrying about walking down any of the streets.
It’s putting the pride of the town on your shoulders,
Visitors can see it in our eyes when we meet.
It’s just a small little town,
There aren’t too many famous sites.
I guess it’s the strong heart of all who live here.
It’s that heart where I found these words to write.
Always I will love my home town.

Don'T Judge

I’m not sure what they are all expecting
When they turn to look at me
I’m not the one wanting to be put on a pedestal
I can’t light the moon for all to see
I’ve seen the disapproval in their eyes
In some of the ways I live my life
I know the gift I was given
Memories burned within; that I relive every night
They I guess don’t understand at all
Only to a few to whom I explain
Like you I’m human on the inside
What gives you the right to judge my pain?

So continue with your whispers; go on and continue with the glare
I’ve never taken life for granted, will I explain or am I wasting air
If you want to try to understand; I’ll let you in for a little peak
Be careful for what you wish for, and remember its pity I don’t seek

So don’t judge me for the way I live
Don’t assume for me you know what’s right
I’m a man who never claimed to be perfect
Please don’t ever put me in that light
You should know I would do anything for anyone
Ask my friends or others in life that I’ve met
For my family and friends I’d lay my life down for
It’s time I’ve borrowed, and I know one day I must pay that debt
I live my life as it comes; to the fullest and sometimes the extreme
I can’t live my life like I’ve only three months to live
I have played that game once and it wasn’t a dream.

Sleepwalking

In a world where we can feel worn down,
Yet not be defeated.
We keep moving in so many directions,
To keep from being cheated.
Just wanting to gaze upon the setting sun.
To slow it down and quit the run.
Lost in the traffic,
My heart still beating,
Just another face in the crowd.
Distorted yet not beaten.
Just wanting to gaze upon the setting sun.
To slow it down and quit the run.

Have we been caught sleepwalking?
 Through our life.
We have to keep trying,
To make things right.
Have we been caught sleepwalking?
We have to open up our eyes,
Before life passes by and leaves us all behind

Have our eyes grown misted,
From the truth.
Or are we swimming in confusion,
Creating our own mental abuse.
Just wanting to gaze upon the setting sun.
To slow it down and quit the run.
It’s time to fight through all the darkness,
Towards the light.
Time to stop being so idle,
It’s o.k. to join and fight for what is right.
So tired of sleepwalking day and night.
Just wanting to gaze upon the setting sun,
To slow it down and quit the run.

Have we been caught sleepwalking?
 Through our life.
We have to keep trying,
To make things right.
Have we been caught sleepwalking?
We have to open up our eyes,
Before life passes by and leaves us all behind

Quench My Thirst.

Now you’re in dark waters,
Tried to be the puppet master to my mind.
I don’t know why you even bothered,
I’ve just been trying to live my life.
You should have seen there’s no strings on my shoulders.
All is ruined, all that we had.
My heart is still warm it hasn’t grown colder.
Lucky for you I never fell into your trap.

I see you drowning in the water.
There’s no revenge in me so I will act quick.
Just let me know when your feet touch bottom.
I will help you out and come take a sip.
I see you in panic mode, your mind is lost.
So I will come and quench my thirst.
This is what you get for trying to control my river of thoughts.
Yet sadly you’re not the first.

Everything I have inside me,
Is the love and emotion that I feel.
You tried to manipulate and grab it all.
It was never yours and yet you tried to steal.
Now you’re looking for the shoreline,
That is where you will see me.
Just try and live your own life.
When you learn that you can put dry ground under your feet.
I never wanted things to end up this way.
I only hope there’s something you have learned.
Trying to control me is a game you don’t want to play.
You will be in dark water with the only guarantee of not getting burned.
