All That Will Come

Come grief
it will come.
Kingdom come
on the run.
Come fires.
Come floods.
Come all that will be—
I’ve already won.

I will fall and falter.
But I learn and grow taller.

All that will come
makes me stronger and faster.
All that will be
ends up my victory.

I do not give up.
I get back on my feet.
Tests and trials ahead 
we all get kicked down.
The smiles will come
and so will the frowns.

I get back up.
I believe I have won.
That’s why I stand now—
undefeated, among all that has come.
