Blue

Everything perfect, something amiss
memories I hold in my heart’s abyss
unsaid, unheard, unfinished
Treasured always, only mine to be cherished.

Laying awake on the bed so warm
Waking up to the azure of the dawn
Scent of pinewood that lingered in the air
Feel of carpet on my feet numb and bare.

Melody of the hymns faraway sung
Aroma of delicacies in the cottage that hung
Nestled in a meadow somewhere uphill,
Sitting cozily in the misty morning chill.

Rowing together to the places unknown
Beads of sweat ,on my forehead shone
In lap of the mountain lay a lake so vast
Wishing that time stops and moments could last.

Faces unknown, yours etched on my mind
Travelled miles, so you i could find.
A rosy picture painted in my head
Found myself in the tryst instead.

Two minds who fell apart as older they grew
Little did i know it was my last time with you.
You were my something old, something new.
something borrowed and something blue.

Monster Mommy

I always prayed for a baby girl before
Asked god for nothing more
She brought so much happiness in our lives
Academics being the only thing, where she strives.

As I prepared her for her school test one night
and she wasn't learning anything right.
I was running out of patience, methods and time
All the while she tried very hard to mime.

After hours of learning she wasn't faring too well.
I threatened her to correctly spell.
I wasn't gentle enough while tying her braid.
Though I didn't raise my voice, she knew study is all for what I cared.

The pressure I put on her makes her forget and second guess herself.
Disappointment she sees in my eyes ,if she doesn't answer and needs help.
The expectation in my voice to pass the test and score,
She worries that if she fails, Mommy won't love her anymore.

I am tough on her for her own good is what I argue
but in my heart I know, that is not true
I wish of a world with no exams, so I could just let her be
Trained to think, her failure will somehow reflect on me.

Versions

Sorted in a cult, the moment you open your eyes
one of the many things you don’t choose
inclusion is what each one tries,
by learning the culture, customs and taboos.

Grow up with each other together
a while later, the innocence fades.
When each one finds themselves better
downhill humanity cascades.

They shout slogans and create unrest.
Bigoted minds an empty heads.
Only thought incepted the best,
to create disruption and hate that spreads.

Some minds are easier to influence
usually ones who don’t use their own.
When religions at core have no difference
each one sees, what versions they are shown.

If only ,humanity was often preached
And being religious meant being spiritual more.
We would keep at bay, evils that lurched
And create a world better than before.
