The Caged Bird's Song

I know why the caged bird sings
For I have felt its pain
Its wings are clipped, its heart in strings
Yet it sings out in refrain

Amidst the darkness, it finds its voice
Its song a bittersweet melody
Its piercing notes reach up high
A call for freedom, for liberty

Oh, how it longs for the open sky
Where it can fly without resist
Where it can soar, spread its wings wide
And feel the wind upon its breast

But for now, it is trapped within
Its cage a symbol of its plight
Yet still it sings, with all its heart
A song of hope and of sheer might

For though it may be caged in
Its spirit can never be broken
And as it sings, it reminds us all
Of love, of strength, of words unspoken

So let us listen to the caged bird's song
And let it stir our souls within
For in its voice, we'll find the courage
To rise above our own cages, and begin.

Take Me Home

Take me home, to where the fields are green
Where the skies are blue, and the air is clean
To the place where my heart and soul belong
Where the peace and love are forever strong

Take me home, to where the rivers flow
And the mountains rise, with their majestic glow
To the place where I grew up, and learned to be
A person of worth, in this wide world and sea

Take me home, where the laughter echoes loud
And the voices of loved ones fill the crowd
Where the memories of childhood still reside
And the simple pleasures of life are never denied

Take me home, to where my spirit can soar
And my heart can once again truly explore
To the place where I am free to just be
Where my soul can dance, and life feels worry-free

So take me home, to where my roots run deep
And the soulful connection I forever keep
For in the essence of home, I feel alive
And that's where my true spirit will forever thrive.

Jair Bolsonaro

Amidst the storm of public unrest,
Bolsonaro took charge in Brazil's nest,
The race for president was questioned with zeal,
But Bolsonaro won, his opponents left to reel.

The world was watching, hopeful in wait,
For a leader who'd bring change, hope and fate,
But as the years passed by, it became clear,
This president was not the one, it was all a veneer.

Ignoring science, dismissing experts,
He touted lies that were by vested interests,
His stance on COVID was met with disdain,
Yet he led a motorbike rally, with thousands of brainwashed beings.

As the world suffered, as death tolls grew high,
He chose to play politics and let people die,
Instead of taking action, he traveled to and fro,
From Florida to Brazil, with no real sense to show.

Allegations of property acquisition followed suit,
Contradictory to ethics, with more than a moot,
For a sum rather small, compared to what it cost,
To neglect COVID, Brazil's economy had been lost.

Entrance to his home was made, to look for proof,
Of false jab cards, amidst his group that were aloof,
The world looked on, wondering how this could be,
As Bolsonaro remained, a failed presidency.

In times that test a nation's might,
It's a leader's job to guide, to stay upright,
But as Brazil stumbled, Bolsonaro fell,
Leaving a legacy of shame, for all to tell.

Fake Love

What once felt like a magic, now feels like a lie
As I uncover the truth, a tear falls from my eye
Your love was a mirage, an illusion I chased
And to find out it was fake, leaves me feeling misplaced

Like a child with a toy, you played with my heart
Toying with my emotions, you were so slick from the start
Leading me on with lies
As I'm left picking up the pieces, picking up the ties

Your agenda was selfish, your intentions was unclear

You kept your true intentions so very near

My heart now broken, by the love that you fake
And it will take time to realise this on my own timetable fate

In the end, my love proved true
But yours fell short, beneath my view

So here's to moving on, finding new love.

Oh Hate Hateful, Hate

Hate, hateful hate, how doth thy poison spread
A venomous fang within the human heart
That doth darken all thoughts of light instead
And tears friends and lovers far apart.

Thou art a curse, a bane upon our race
A devilish spawn that doth thrive on spite
Thou bringeth sorrow to our mortal place
And turneth hearts from warmth to bitter might.

When hate doth rear its head, all love doth flee
And reason's voice doth falter and grow weak
Our eyes are blinded, and we cannot see
The havoc wrought, the peace that we bespeak.

So let us shun this foe, this deadly lure,
And seeketh love, that doth make our hearts pure.

Street Life

Every night I walk these streets
Where the neon lights shine so bright
People rushing all around me
Barely stopping to say goodnight
Homeless ones are lying on the street
Dreaming of a life that they may never meet
Fighting for a meal, day by day
Trying to keep the sorrows far away
The corners filled with heartless souls
Trying to make their living from their goals
The sound of gunfire in the distance
Evoking fear into a heart's resistance
Yet, there's a sense of community
In these streets where people roam
Where each other they know
And they make a place they can call home
This is the life that we've been given
And we all make the most of it
In these streets we call our own
That can give us joy as much as it can spit
So walk with me on these streets
And you will see life in a different light
It's not always pretty or glamorous
But the street life is worth the fight.

They Say He's a Loser

Lulu De Silva they say he's a loser
That he's not worth a dime
But they don't know his story
Or the battle he won over time
They see him as failure, without any real success
But they don't know the strength he has
Or the way he always does his best
They judge him by his looks
Or the mistakes he made before
But they don't know his potential
Or the passion he has in store

So let them call him a loser and underestimate his power
For with each critic and setback
He grows stronger by the hour

He will show them what he's made of
And prove them all wrong someday

For a true winner is one who rises
Despite what others may say.

Screen of Awareness

In this world of screens everywhere we turn
We're glued to them, our attention yearns
The bright screens beam and flash all day
Hypnotizing us to look their way

But what about our screen within
Our own awareness, where to begin?
The screen within is just as bright
If we look inward and shine its light

Our thoughts and emotions, all on display
On the screen of awareness, they all play
We can step back and observe with care
To see what's happening, we become aware

With practice, our own screen can grow
And we begin to see and know
What's truly important, what's our truth
And we act with intention and in our youth

The screen of awareness can guide us through
The chaos and noise of what we pursue
It helps us see the beauty in life
Beyond the distractions and strife

So take some time and turn inward
To your screen of awareness, it's a treasure
It can show you the way and keep you true
To yourself and what's most important to you.

Life

Life is a journey that we all must take
With twists and turns, it's never straight
We face challenges both big and small
And sometimes we stumble, sometimes we fall
But life is also beautiful, full of wonder
With Joys and pleasures we can't help but ponder
We find love and friendship along the way
And memories that will forever stay
We learn and grow with every passing day
And as we age, we find our own way
Life is a precious gift, meant to be savored
So let's cherish each moment, unconditionally favored.

Twist of Faith

In life, we may think we have it all
Figured out, planned, untouched by a fall
But then a twist of fate, a curveball thrown
Our faith may shake, we feel alone

A dream may crumble, a hope may fade
But in that moment, don't be afraid
Sometimes a twist of faith is a sign
That the bigger picture is just divine

It may lead us down an unexpected path
Opening doors we never thought to ask
Guiding us toward something new and great
As we realize our destiny, it all falls into place

Though it's hard to see the good at first
The twists of faith are often blessings in disguise
So hold onto hope, embrace the change
And trust that your life will soon rearrange

For even when we can't see the way
Our faith can guide us through the gray
The twists of faith may be tough to face
But they plant the seeds for a brighter, better place.
