Truth of Butterflies

Whispers linger on wings
	of butterflies
		revealing
	hidden worlds buried deep
		in the truth
	of each moment

Leaving reality unraveled
	discovering wild notions of self
		left locked
	in dark recesses
		of the mind

Seeing echoes
	strange vibrations
		third eye
	no longer blind

Like stepping into a mud puddle
	falling through
		fully inverted

Piercing the veils
	dripping
		a prism of colors
	aware and awake
inside

Humbled
	by the experience named broken
		stripped
	of egos
pride

Whispers
	of fluttering wings
		are all that remain
	of you
		on the other side

Dancing Tears

Deaths hand dealt
	fire
		flung with fury
	towards fractured souls
		that felt
	life reduced
to fragmented parts

Crows feet
	walked on strange places
		following
	a lost trail
		leading
	from a desert oasis
		weathering
	its sand
		burning
them as they wept

Eyes
	pouring
		a river of faces
		currents of memories
	rolling
		on

Tears
	break
		the dam of dreaming
	that held back the reading
		of gravestone

Infinite space
	for last tear
		falling
	always
		falling
	towards the ground

forever
		embracing
	nights
		eternal
	sound

A Nightshads Song

Winter rains lover
	the cold north wind
fought against the thought of warmth
in which we would embrace again.

It holds steadfast to the slow
	beating of the window pane
		drums loudly out thoughts
	leaving us numb.

Ice courses through veins
	long forgotten canals
whom once held court for promises
	of love stricken stars
that fell from above.

Silence is left shouting
	deaf tones
		of moments
	long held to endless night
		shade
which we decided to get drunk on
		and parade
through the death streets of our ancestors
		dancing dreams
	with them forever on...

			...movements to the song.

Bad Denim

Held you
	in the light
		of faded blue jean
memories

Starring down the contour of your thighs
kissing gently the dimples of your knees
		starting to squeeze
	your ankles too tight.

That’s when you threw me
	off of you
		‘round midnight
			train
		stopped playing
	that deep blue music
		we listened to
	last night
		stand
swore there would never be another chance
		you would give me
	to make it
“all-right”

Fighting each other
	not letting go
		Fine!
	“Good-Bye”
		we are through
	go find another pair
		that fits you

broke my zi-
			pp
				-er
					now I’m stuck

Bad denim
	tossed with socks
		in a donation box.

Desert Flower Soul

How is it that I know your eyes?
	That I understand
		the language
			of your spirit?

Yet
	We are discovering each other
		in this moment
	for the first time.

Within how many lifetimes
	have we met?

What is the number counted
	for how often
		our hands
			have reached to dance?

Hands of strangers
	upon first meeting
	however known
		across the expanse
			of incarnations – once touched.

Lips that speak
	of silent forever’s
		adrift together
	among the seasons.

A knowing
	beyond names ever spoken
		save the two that reside
	in each others hearts.

You are the desert flower
	I am the rain
		fallen
			upon scorched ground
		in search of yearning pedals
	that I may be
		consumed.

~

It is the rain
	that drinks of the flower
		absorbed
	in its radiant beauty.

Plastic Dreams

Plastic bags
	hold plastic dreams:

Water bottles filled with filtered
hope seething chloride stained
brains left thought
-less attracted towards rancid
smile at the magic hat
trick of the eye
candy dispenser tossed on the ground
‘s keeper cleaned up from last nights
parade with clown
faces that look away when strangers
dance together in the rain
falling trash chokes the air
	from a buttercup
fragments used to tie up

Bags full
	Ready to meet
		The garbage truck.

A Bridge Home

Pain reveals us
	unbound to “normal” life
		tw-
			i-
           sted
	upon shelves
		filled with feature-
	less portraits of lies
		told
	at the super-
		market behind the barber-
	shop’n for smiles
		‘n a stained t-
	shirt
		worn to church
	service held
		for our memories
	baptized
in muddy waters

Reliving the revelry
	played out like promises
		swallowed
	choking up – on pieces
		of us drowning
	under the bridge
		I slept near
last night.

Colors Edge

I received a red letter
	without a return address
which I read aloud
	from light
		via silver stars
that painted the stark black night
		in hues of amber
coaxed from a blue milk moon

I never knew colors could cut so deep…

Like silky violet reflected in a white pill
its hard edges cutting deep my cheek
as it fights with a caramel colored drink
	to stay afloat
		tumbling
towards the abyss of my throat

I never knew colors could cut so deep…

Like a green onion dipped in chocolate
	I’m out of place –
		sipping on memories of you

I never knew colors could cut so deep...

Shadows Cast

Dark halls filled with listless flame
	casting shadows upon walls
for souls with no names.

Fury cried upon faithless
	wings spread wide with tips
		dipped in blood spilled
	by blade
bore of golden hilt.

Hand fasten to steel
	of warrior made
	iron born mountain
		scaled where Angels lay
	brothers and sisters
of war – slayed.

Druken Eyes

Whiskey drawn tears
	upon a face
		that once sung lullaby’s
	wiping away cries
		a baby held in tune
			to an old deaf tone
	plastic blue bird

Red, red, red like the blush stained streaks on her face

Green, green like the car that sped on

Yellow like the police tape
	marking off

		-a place for the last

							that fell
	from her
		drunken eyes
